Bakotsu (Nusjuro):
This Yokai only seems to have been mentioned once and its only defining detail is that it’s a horse that burnt to death in a fire. I’m assuming that Oda just chose this because he wanted the Horse skeleton aesthetic.
Itsumade (Mars): The Itsumade is a snake with a human face and Sharp claws. Breaths Fire and lightning (Sanji’s fight most likely). Considering Mars is the minister of environment it’s interesting that the Itsumade appears during times of plague.
Houki/Fengxi (Mercury):
The Fengxi is a Chinese mythological Boar with extremely tough skin which rampaged through the mulberry forest in until a legendary Demigod Archer named Hou Yi killed it (Usopp matchup?). He was also the God of Rain and lived in rivers. So I’m assuming he has water powers
If Mars and Mercury have water and fire powers like their Yokais suggest then that means Oda is following this formula. 👇
