Fictional stories can be of great help because there will be characters you can identity with, characters and plots that inspire you.
The author's intention doesn't even matter here. Every reader sees something different in a story.

What I learned is that no matter how many characters assassinations you've performed and how increasingly brain dead the plot becomes, the sheeple will still praise your work as peak fiction solely because of hype, mystery bait, and most of all agendas. Goda!

That's not what Oda was implying at all in the SBS. He seemed to have been insinuating that Doffy and Viola's relationship was out of passion according to those last few sentences. Otherwise this would mean that Oda is taking Viola's situation extremely lightly, which would be pretty weird imo.

My favourite and one that runs throughout the story is to be kind even when the world is cruel. Oda constantly rewards his characters who are kind to others even when the do so with out expecting anything. It is a very good reminder that we all need.
