People are focusing too much on haki but forget that haki legends like Roger, Whitebeard and Rayleigh failed to have a black blade.

So far Wano's evidences point much more to killing/blood related in order to obtain a black blade.

That fox told that Ryuuma turned Shusui a black blade after many battles and blood dropped by that sword. That old guy in Zoro's village told him that swords are meant to kill. Mihawk used to fight swordsmen before being WSS and used to hunt pirates for hobby.

That's why ZKK is a big indicator of Enma turning into black blade. And ZKS may be Wado's turn to be black blade.

Why would killing shiryu make wado change?

Also if killing is integral to making a weapon black who the others have to kill for theirs to change
Not sure if it is only killing. I mean is probably not. Zoro is not the only one killing around the world.

Would be nice to know if Ryuuma was a black blade before killing the dragon or if it turned right after that.

My guess is that owner and sword need to have the same will. Ryuuma and Shusui wanted to kill the Dragon therefore it became a black blade. Oden failed to kill Kaido. Roger and WB seems like they never killed anyone. Oden too.

Remember, swords are meant to kill. So their will is to kill someone or something.

Do you think only weapons with their own will/soul can go through the transformation? I feel like it makes sense but at the same time wonder what makes a weapon semi sentient
Like if its similar to ships where it needs love and care could hypothetical any weapon have a soul. Like usopp, franky, or vegapunks creations

And how they decide their own dream/goal/accomplishment that needs to be achieved
Like with enma
We know Oden was able to hold it even easier than current zoro but before he returned to wano the final time could he have made it black. Either through kozaburos dream or his. He obviously didn't turn it but still
I think that every sword has a will, but not every Swordsman is capable of listening to that will. Some might not even know that the sword has a soul. Maybe only graded weapons (that actually took "effort" to create and the hands of a professional) have said soul.

And regarding the dream of the sword, I think that it's usually established by the first owner who actually has a deep relationship with the sword. Or maybe, in some extreme cases, the one who made the blade might be one who gave the sword it's dream. In Wado, the soul's dream is probably to achieve the pinnacle of strength, basically being in the hands of the WSS, and thus, it will probably become black after Mihawk is defeated. And for Enma, her will is probably Kaido's death. That would explain perfectly why it didn't become a Black Blade in Oden's hands; because he didn't achieve said will.

We know weapons kinda work like fruits or even ships. Where they will at times try to search and find who they want to be with

Itd be interesting if the sword took up the will of the one who created it. With the more passion, dedication, and intense the emotions they had during its creation progress effecting how strong and "cursed" it is
The weapons will maybe being the specific will and intended reason why the swordsmith created it.
Like for example for the sake of the explanation whoever made shusui wanted to create it under the specific want for the specific dragon ryuma killed to die or something. It then by fate or coincidence finding zoro. Someone likley related to wano specifically his previous weilder and someone that could take him back to wano
Then because of that it went out in search for someone capable of doing so turning black in the process maybe. Again if that was the specific want of the swordsmith but idk its hypothetical

Maybe if we learn kozaburos specific intent/reason behind crafting wado and enma we will also know their "dream"

Why would beating shiryu make wado black?
Being relevant to the main story and care about the way of the sword. Definitely not just haki mastery.
Hopefully its just "the way of the weapon" tho it also sounds very corny
Cause i don't see why blades but even more specifically swords can be the only type capable. There are lots of cool types of weapons it'd be cool to see more

It shall be enthralling to figure out just how much CoA and CoC are involved because if the black blade is prominently a CoA thing then its hype will shame robustly

Part 3: equal haki to ryuma and mihawk
Can non named or non meito or non special blades become black?

Part 4: equal haki to ryuma and mihawk
Can weapons bedsides blades black
Like yamato and kaido's clubs, Usopp and nami's weapons, etc.
To make Black blade you need to have strongest CoA and Strongest CoC in history.

Roger's Haki wasn't strong enough.
Maybe his CoC was enough but CoA wasn't.

Someone like Zoro have CoA up there but not CoC.

You need to have peak CoA and Peak CoC

Imo

You think zoro will blacken all his swords at the same time? or that people like him, mihawk, and ryuma could blacken any sword they want/touch

Mihawk and Ryuma can blacken any sword.
To blacken a sword, you need to provide a sword with OVRWHELMING amounts of Ryou and Conqueror's Haki.
Ordinary Haki users like Shanks Roger and Oden don't have Haki reserves to do that.

Mihawk and Ryuma are two in several centuries to have that level of overwhelming Haki.

Zoro will FIRST make Enma black as Enma will squeeze out that overwhelming Haki from Zoro turning black. If it did that to Oden he would simply die but Zoro's Haki reserves even at the time when he'd make Enma black would be far greater than Oden hence Enma turns black.

Then down the line he will get enough CoA and CoC reserves that he can at will turn other two swords black.

At that point his Haki would be overwhelming enough to make any sword black.

Its not like haki takes that long to replenish? If he can make enma black give it a few minutes, hours, or like a day at most he should have his haki all back to do the same for his other swords

@Albino πŸ‘‘ To me Black blade is a power scaling statement and nothing else.
Every black blade maker is stronger than every non black blade maker.

Zoro might still be below Roger when he makes Enma black because Enma will forcefully pull Haki out. But when he makes Wado black he will surpass all blade users who were not strong enough to make their blades black like Whitebeard, Xebec, Roger etc

No he is simply not capable to pushing out that level of Haki without Enma.
Enma pulls out more Haki from a user on average than they can normally dish out.

Enma's full power pull of Haki will make it black.
If other swords were given Enma's quality then he can make them black too.

I think Hand, Club, Leg anything can become permanently black with overwhelming levels of Haki and no non black weapon/body part user cna defeat a permanent black weapon/body part maker.

Basically that is peak of combat in One Piece @Albino πŸ‘‘

Since Haki trumps all of black blade is the peak of Haki usage in One Piece.

Peak of CoO is permanent CoO like Hawk Eyes.

The world's strongest man without a black blade is canonically stronger than the world's strongest swordsman who isnt the world's strongest man and the one with a black blade

No Whitebeard's title doesn't mean shit he himself said he can't stay strongest forever. No one contended Whitebeard's title.
He got his title in his prime when Mihawk wasn't in his prime.

Mihawk > Prime Whitebeard

For the record WB had his title since Roger days yet Roger was just as strong as him.
His title was probably never legit to begin with
