Powers & Abilities Haki Purging Devil Fruits

#1
How does it work?

At first i thought it was a knee jerk reaction. Like if somebody tried to put you in an armbar (targeting you with their ability) you have time to escape before your arm breaks ( ability takes effect), but law was already effected by doq's ability yet he managed to haki out. Does that mean Devil Fruits can resisted at any time? Could luffy spend the day as an old man due to Bonney, and then later decide to undo the effect? Could any of Sugars victims just "flex" out of her ability?

Also, is it simply powering your haki up or is it a technique that you have to finesse, similar to ryou?

It's like this, as long as you have stronger haki than the person that affected you, you are basically good unless you let them affect you on your own volition as long as it doesn't harm you in any ways (Luffy becoming an old man for instance).

Or, Oda just likes to use haki for convenient circumstances.:kayneshrug:

You probably need to actively try to resist the effects through focusing your energy. And probably when your haki is overwhelmingly potent the ability’s effects won’t even work like Kaido and Big Mom. I think this will only work for abilities that have an effect on the body like freeze, petrification, disease/poison, being manipulated by ope ope etc.

Just some convenient BS to balance his "world building". All those colosseum warriors and no one can resist Sugar, and his favorite Oden can't get pass an old man.

It depends on ability. Luffy already got turned into a weak old man, he would have to defend against her ability with haki beforehand. Same with Sugar's power I imagine.

Or some of Law's powers like amputation you have to defend against that before hand or reattach outside the room range. Same with his personality transplant, have to defend with haki beforehand, like Kaido/BM.

Your will to not be affected by the fruit is superior to the will of your enemy to affect you with it.

And yes, probably Luffy would have been capable of imposing his will over Bonney's and undo the effect of her fruit by himself as long as he's aware this can be done.

The more i think about it, the less it makes sense.

What about Devil fruit abilities that already have prerequisite conditions?

Big moms soul pocus requires her victims to be scared. So on top of that cobdition, the victim also has to have weak haki? And what about hancocks lust prerequisite?

I agree with yall who are saying oda is being vague for convenience. But its been 1000 chapters. No magic system needs 1000 chapters to divulge.
