Gaban performance outcome:
  • Forfeit against luffy and zoro
  • Temporarily incapacitated Sommers with advanced CoC attacks
  • Defeated by Gunko (no Imu power)
  • Almost lost his weapon control from John's magnet power
  • Lost strength against Shakki
  • Couldn't stop Harald when he tag teamed with Shanks
This is your hero, sanji fans? :suresure::suresure:
  • never intended to actually fight luffy or zoro
  • only 2 confirmed deaths for immortals 1. in which came from loki with DF and Ragnir buffs combined with ancient giants blood and AdvCoC, 2. combined all out AdvCoC attack from both Garp/Roger
  • surrendered to save his son colon
  • "almost" yet he didnt
  • literally every single person was at a loss to shakky
  • no he could have eventually stopped him but not able to kill him, refer to 2nd point
nt, try again ningen

Dialogue from characters are biased. How about when Dressrosa citizen worshipped Doflamingo. Does that mean Doflamingo was an actual good king for them?
Y’all keep calling giants an unreliable source yet fail to see this is a story being narrated by an author. Their words were written by the author to convey a message to us. Giants aren’t some separate source that are independent of the manga they’re in. Ask yourself, why would Oda make the giants lie about something especially during a character’s introduction? Then reiterate that same statement through Jinbei and Gaban himself confirming it’s the general sentiment in the OP world. Why would Oda mislead his readers for no reason?

You guys got to stop pretending like characters and their words are independent of the context of the manga they’re in. Sure, characters lie and deceive at times. But that can be justified by narration and context. Or future contradictions. There’s literally nothing suggesting this was one of those instances since this is an introduction and character’s reputation during introductions are what the author intends for the most part. Of course there are exceptions like Momo being Kinemon’s son but once again, that can be justified through the context of a plot twist. Why would there be a plot twist here? Unless you believe Gaban was never Roger’s wing at all which is frankly just stupidity.

Bringing up Garp’s words on Rayleigh also changes nothing since Rayleigh being a living legend and being relative to Gaban isn’t mutually exclusive. It’s also extremely disingenuous of Zoro fans for denying character statements since Mihawk’s entire hype relies on it and they gassed up the mere mention of Rayleigh in the same sentence as Whitebeard (with NO evidence of ANY equivalence in strength or reputation) and are now denying verbatim statements that put Rayleigh and Gaban as relative.

I’d like to see you try to explain the mental gymnastics you’d perform to justify your oxymoronic claims and logic but you’re probably gonna read and run from this like the rest of your sword swallower friends.

Have you noticed that all the powerful characters up to this point respect Gaban as a legendary figure, as a fighter, and as a person? Even the supremely arrogant villains fear him and are very careful when dealing with him.

Betting against and underestimating this character is only for those who want to end up climbing a mountain with their bare hands. And we're talking about Mountain Eater here.
