Nothing really has changed. Mihawk was always top tier and one of the strongest characters in One Piece.

The only difference now is we are starting to get a better understanding of his true strength. Mihawk received a 3.5B bounty for his strength alone. Nobody else have received a bounty that high for just strength. He could have been a Yonko but didn't because it doesn't means anything to him.

We have seen how it requires some characters to use their strongest attack or even awakening to recreate what he could do what fraction of the power.

Mihawk is the only character able to force Luffy to retreat and avoid from fighting because he's too powerful. Luffy wasn't scared to face WSM WB and tell him to stay out of his way. Luffy wasn't scared to face marine hero and Galaxy impact user Garp. Luffy wasn't scared to face three Admirals the same time. Yet, when it came to Mihawk's he acknowledged Mihawk was too strong and ran away.

I understand that some fans wank Zoro as the strongest in the verse which imho is dumb, and some Sanji fans/Zoro haters trying desperately to downplay his endgoal by skills and haki cope.

The moment both fandoms accept that Mihawk and Shanks are pretty much equal its over. Oda will never clown Shanks in favor of Mihawk and he will give Mihawk some flex moments sooner or later.

Best case scenario i see Oda coming up with is he will say something among the lines of, Mihawk=100 one handed Shanks=99 and he will wrap this shit up.
