is anyone able to help me understand why I can't make an image I rip via lasso tool not able to go onto an new file that is selected to have a transparent background that does not have a transparent background. I have tried everything and even google for info on how and I still am stuck with a white background on the project.

It's driving me insane. someone please help.

I have cs6, but I must say your description of your problem is a bit unclear.
I tried to do what you explained:
I opened File->New, and chose backgound contents: transparent.
then I opened an existing picture and used the lasso tool to select a part of the image.
I copied (ctrl+C), and pasted it (ctrl+P) on the new one with the tranparent bg.
The bg layer stayed transparent.
I don't see where your problem is.

Okay, that seemed to fix my problem. Thanks a bunch you two. I will be sure to come by and ask questions. However, do have one question. I have a portableappz version of cs6. do you have any access to extensions to the cs6 series that would help improve use of the application itself?

good looking out. I already own CyberLink video editing program despite never using it. so I am good on that front. But, I wouldn't mind owning the rest of the programs itself.
