Did Admiral Aramaki forge it legitimately or did he take it as a war trophy from some great pirate he killed?

There is definitely another factor other than armament haki for the creation of black blades, only a matter of finding out what it is.

Its mostlikely not even a Black Blade its just a black Sheath. And if it somehow ends up beeing a Black Blade he definetly wont be the one who forged it cause it would be a disrespect to other Top Tier Swordsmans like Roger,Rayleigh,Shanks etc. Only the strongest Swordsman are capable of forging it like Ryuma/Mihawk

A Shirasaya (edit: Sorry that's the wrong type of sword, but you get the point)
One he forged himself
Or one he stole.
Not sure, but we'll know eventually.
I personally wouldn't be too shocked if he forged it him self, but it'd be weird for him to have forged a black blade and then never use it again.

Even after leaving Raisin's hands, the blade remained darkened by Haki, so I believe that the blade on GB's waist was covered with Haki, but it is not permanently a black blade.

I'm leaning towards the idea that it's Green Bull's sword sheath that is black. If Oda were to hide the sword guard between Risin's clothes and not show the end of the sheath, just as he did with Green Bull's panel, we would also assume that Risin has a black blade because it would be difficult to differentiate.

I think Aramaki is an Armament specialist, and a very strong one at that, just as Fuji is a CoO specialist and probably even top 1.

Obviously people can acquire a sword through other means than just making it themselves. Zoro has had two and didn’t forge either.

The point is if we’re introduced to a top tier with a black blade we’re supposed to work under the assumption he forged it himself. Otherwise there’ll be countless “who did mihawk steal his BB from” posts.
