Oda is terrible at executing fights and powers, abilities and effects. Its literary been similar to Fairy Tail Friendship powerup bullshit.
This is Oda's writing style better get use to it. One Piece don't make sense, its inconsistent, and unreliable when it comes to powers, abilities, its effects and levels.

To scar Kaido, Oden and Zoro (Asura) used Ryuo too, but instead of flowing their armament haki, they flowed their conqueror's haki.

Also, you don't need aCoC to scar Kaido. Scarring Kaido comes from strictly power. Kaido himself wondered if the CoCless scabbards have enough power to scar him or reopen his scar.

Read what Luffy said in 939. Basic Advanced armament haki( barrier/emission) can injure Kaido. That is what they all used to injure Kaido.

The scabbards used Armament, while Zoro and Oden used Conqueror and Armament.


Willpower is a real thing in OP world, so with enought will to do something u can do it, thats seems the thing behind the scabbards, they will to avenge Oden was soo powerfull that theirs Haki was able to cut Kaido, but isnt enought to give him a permanent scar like Oden and Zoro did.



About the explosive chain, dont think they can, seems like a very developed ability, Scabbards, Zoro and Oden have theirs Haki developed more for use in swordsmanship

Yeah that's exactly how will power is conceived by Oda, being capable to afford what seems impossible. 🤔 Luffy saving Ace from being executed via CoC was the epitome.

What you understand by basic armament and barrier armament?

I consider coating weapons with haki basic armament, but that is also the explanation of Ryou(barrier armament).

So it seems that Barrier Armament is enough to damage Kaido.

To me Oden and Zoro used ACoC to scar him. Like Luffy said Internal Damage(ACoA) was too shallow so you can't really scar him like that.

So Oden and Zoro can't use ACoA, can't explode chains and collars like Luffy but they already knew ACoC which is much better.
