I wouldn't dislike it as much if Oda didn't forcefully tried to make you like Sanji and miserably failed at it.

He literally made almost all of them emotionless abusers just to paint Sanji in a good light and feel for him.

Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji should've been normal humans I mean without altering the emotions stuff and etc...

Their abuse feels cheap because they are programmed this way.

I know it's not the most innovative writing aspect in the world but I would much prefer if they were normal without altered brains/emotions and just abuse Sanji both emotionally and physically as totally capable humans.

It was trash for me and this did not change in retrospect too. I knew there was going to be Prince Sanji plotline...but oh boy we just got a trash implementation, we could have done a lot with it but there were just too many issues for me to even see it in a speck of positive light.

Awesome idea, but could've been handled better in some aspects mainly because of it being presented in an arc like WCI, Big Mom's arc.

And it's not over yet, because Sanji is still there and the story isn't finished

It's not finished yet

Could have been lot better but ended up being okayish / average

But what i like is Oda was trying something with Sanji and giving his character something to chew. Compared to the other SH it's already miles ahead.

Dismal.

Comes far too late in the story, has zero foreshadowing of any real substance in Sanji’s words and actions before then and the characters introduced with it are all terrible. These factors combine mean every emotional beat fails to land. Compare it to the previous Strawhats leave stories of Nami, Usopp and Robin and it’s hot garbage.

Oh, and my own big pet peeve- half the Strawhats don’t even have a role in it. Imagine EL except Nami, Sanji and Chopper haven‘t actually went there. Awful. And the in-series excuse was garbage. ”If we brought the full crew it would be a war!” The full crew was ten people. The team that went to WCI had eight in it.

Nor did the ones that went to Wano do anything worthwhile before Luffy got there. In fact, I can even make Wano work better with all the Strawhats arriving at once, and the same plot points happening.

1) Same thing happens at arrival, Zoro tries to jump in to get DF user Luffy, both get washed ashore.
2) Act One commences near enough the exact same, only difference is Zoro is there at the beginning as well instead of meeting up like two chapters in.
3) Act Two starts with Zoro having being arrested for carrying Shusui, Yasu and Gyukimaru go to see Shusui, Yasu sees Zoro’s breakout and decides to follow him while Gyukimaru steals Shusui in the process. Zoro and Yasu go after Gyukimaru. Can even add in better Killer foreshadowing here and have him watching Zoro’s execution as well.

Biggest complain i had with WCI plotline was how Sanji was left hopeless and helpless at one point. It's not something to be done to stronger characters in your story.

Sanji trained during the TS to be ready for NW yet his character was made to believe his crew and Captain weren't capable of handling the situation if he didn't co-operate with the threat. I like a character who doesn't give in to threats and act as per his own terms. Sanji had to rely on BM words and look for comfort in Pudding. That felt like Plot induced writing than character focused. Character focused story would've revolved arround Sanji using his Intelligence to fool BM somehow and trying to escape back to SHs.

Even accepting everything all the abuses and weak moments Oda failed to give a proper payoff to Sanji that's what miserably failed the WCI arc. It was somewhat handled during Wano fight but it didn't have that impact it could've had during Wci arc.

WCI was shit but the payoff on Wano was pretty good. Only thing I would've changed was extending the dark Sanji plotline and leave it open ended. One of the hypest moments in Wano and I hope it's revisited. The alternative scenes of Sanji standing over dead bodies and a broken statue of Judge in the anime were amazing.

Yea but Sanji was right Strawhats couldn’t handle the threat lol. Even with all the Allie’s they had they barely got out. WCI is the first time Luffy left an arc without defeating the Main Villain.everyone Having Blind faith in Luffy is boring asl and unrealistic.

That’s why the water 7 conflict was such a gem for the times.

Honestly Oda made me feel bad for Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji because they lost their emotions without their consent. They had no say in what happened to them. Sanji’s abuse is still sad, but Sanji’s brothers being aware of their emotions would have been better.
