General & Others How is a manga that ended five years ago still outselling One Piece last month?

Because it goes will with Japanese people with samurai swordsmanship and all. Plus high level animation also helps.
The scene of Big Mom handing over one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in existence to Kaidou so he can win for them is going to be magnificent.

“Here, Kaidou, eat it — and win!”
And Kaidou transforms into the Azure Dragon, terrifying everyone.

OP has been in decline for some time, but even I couldn't fellate Lemon Slayer just to try to downplay OP's popularity.
For such a long and complex manga, OP still does great and will continue to for some time. The ending will only make it explode in "hype" all the more.

Had it ended 10 years ago, OP would be even bigger than it is now, but this is Oda's magnum opus, so he needs to keep chiseling at it, least he grows bored with normal life.

OP is made for westerners

Demon slayer is made for japanese

Simple as that
That's a biased take. DS is a poor product, either for the West or for Nipponland. It leaves much to be desired and imagined. Aside from cool fights and basic relationships, it has nothing grander going for it, no message to traverse cultures. OP is universal in its takes, much as they may have gotten stale and repetitive.

Just because Oda follows an arc formula does not mean that his message is black-and-white. Don't belittle. Try to see what the man is telling you, on the moral as on the historico-political front.
You are thinking OP is deep philosophy? Please explain how OP is a beacon of morality, history, and political philosophy? There are so many contradictions in OP that I cannot see your assertion as feasible.

Cause it just started gaining mass popularity in the 2020s, when western cultures started getting more into anime and wanted a short anime. So they picked up demon slayer, simple as that

Brotato salad, I see more people glazing demon slayer in America, people act like it's the greatest thing in the world

Because Anime is just an ad for the manga, demon slayer being one of the most popular anime in the modern era has helped its manga sales tremendously

Where as one piece its a lot harder to get new readers/watchers because unless you have like a month of nothing but free time, good luck catching up so its not really attracting younger audiences and then a lot of older people are moving away from one piece because in the 30 years since it began they started having families and what not and other financial responsibilities besides manga's

Despite its decline in popularity and sales the fact one piece is still in the top 10 speaks volumes to how truly popular it is

Demon Slayer is better for the modern viewer who prefers high paced action paired with crisp animation even tho the story itself is pretty blegh

DS only looks poor to you cuz its not made for you. Apart from the anime also carrying a lot of its hype, its got familiar japanese setting, concise good vs evil plot, sad tragic backstories for redemptive villains, concise human love and family themes, lots of Buddhist-Shintoism imagery, spiritualist philosophy, and other shit that japanese ppl eat up like rice

Naruto during its run was the exact same. It was always the best out of the big 3 at the time for same reasons. It had massive pull in japan so much that every shonen mangaka today quotes it as inspiration. It was also popular in the west but for slightly different reasons. Demon slayer is like that but condensed which fits with the adhd mentality of todays generation and anime is the far superior product like for dbz meaning $$$ in shueisha's pockets
