All the swordsmen we've seen use slashing attacks, and Zoro's whole thing is about cutting this or that.

But what a coincidence that non-cutting sword users are the only sword users with a significance in the One Piece world clearly superior to Buggy's circus employee...

We have known about the existence of swordsmen who possess non-cutting or shockwave attack since pre-time skill. Zoro teacher told him that.

There really was a lot going on in those scenes. Oda seem to be reconnecting his old concepts with swordsmanship.

Shockwave swordsmansmith is a path swordsman can take. It's possible to combine cutting and shockwave attacks.

Harald (I believe he mastered giant swordsmanship that is a shockwave sword style)
Strong giants (I believe most strong Elbaph giants who know giant swordsmanship can produce shockwave attacks)

Shockwave attacks can take the shape of a wave, can rotate or spin, or create circular damage.

Rotating/spinning shockwave attacks:
