General & Others How much did the editors influence One piece and how do they still?

So if nobody is just lieing, the infamous scene of Shanks getting his arm biten of was mandated by Oda's editors. That made me think about how much the editors are responsible for the direction of the story. Are many infamous examples of charachters surviving like Pell part of it? Or is it the opposite - the waining influence of editors cause of Oda's succes, explains the decent of the quality of the series. (This gets argueed in the infamous "downfall of one piece" video by Drizzzt or how many z the name has)
Ofcourse the easy probable cop out answer is that it's not black and white and so on and so on but why not still talk about it, whats the harm lol😂

I would say editors helped him since Shanks losing an arm made the scene much better. But lately editor cried about Scabbards attacking Kaido. So idk.

Like cried meaning they were emotional about it or cried in that they complained about it, that it shouldnt happen in that way?

Pretty sure it was the first option. They suck Oda so hard.
yeah I wonder how much Oda gets treated like a God by the japanese public. Maybe that's why the editors are like that, or maybe its a them problem. But still you think with sales declining the executives would step in and get some hardass editor too drive up sales, but.maybe they scares of angering Oda or somethig. Still I wish there was some way to get more information on who and when and what each editor did and was during the run of the series

This is hard to say. Looking to western content it took so long for executives to do something against woke content that nobody wants to see. Only know Warner seems to be doing something about it. And look how Top Gun is hitting. Maybe the executives are also lazy and not sure how to handle One Piece situation. Sales are dropping but is still top 10 selling manga every year. Is not like One Piece is dead already. Maybe after Wano the drop will be even bigger.

No one knows Except the company people & Oda himself.

They won't leak that information except a little thing to get (or even stir up) Reader's attention.

It makes a lot of sense that that the editors would have a much bigger say and influence in the story when the series was still in its infancy since it wasn't a proven success yet. Oda had to listen to them or risk getting dropped.

But the way I understand it, Oda now has a much tighter grip on the story than he originally did. The series is a massive hit that they can't afford to lose, and he's proved himself to be a viable writer over the years so they probably just let him do whatever the hell he wants without much pushback in comparison to the earlier days.

My theory is that the lack of editor oversight is what has led to a lot of the issues we've seen in the last decade. Either the editors don't give him much feedback, Oda ignores them, or they're mostly yes men. Who knows.
