I’m not rich enough and don’t care enough to change devices every year or so. I’d consider it time when it either breaks, the manufacturer stops supporting it, or when they shutdown the broadband cellular network that it uses if it’s a phone.
Until it stops working.
Also a piece of Advice people Expensive phones are not worth it at all. (Personal Opinion Ofcourse)
But given My Past exp with My samsung S20+
It's definately a good phone and Gives a pretty premium Vibe in hand but Due to it being Curved Screen , the repair costs were Ridiclous and currently I'm using a Smartphone Cheaper than the Repair cost of that curved screen and suprisingly it's more powerful*That's it nothing else even samsung phone from 3 era back have better camera and in hand feel. it's upto you on what want*
Once every two years since I buy my phones rather than be on a contract, and I don't think the annual differences are enough to want to buy a new phone every year. I think every two years make enough of a difference though to buy a new phone.
Until it stops working.

I have phone insurance so I replace mine for a new one if I so much as scratch it but with an otterbox case so I haven't had to replace mine in a year or 2
Everyone else already said it perfectly. I'm kinda surprised actually because it felt everyone was changing phone yearly and I was the odd one out. If it does what I want it to do then the phone stays. Haven't bought a phone since like 2016.
Oh, used to be all the time. Things are very different when you can have everything you want. Once post-high school life begins and you're on your own, you have to redefine your priorities.
