They can live in any natural environment. What happens if someone better than caesar existed and created something like Roko? They wouldn't be able to breath. Hence also the bubbehelmet the CD are wearing. A remnant from the massacre, that was getting everyone but the ones wearing the helmet to die.

Low-key you thinking GB is a glorified Holy Roppo is the root of the problem. Dude wouldn't actually care one bit about Whitebeard's treasure. He went to a completely isolated country and had basically no interest in stealing anything. I don't think it would be beyond him to take a hostage or something if he was on the backfoot, or at least do it if he was ordered too, but the man we've seen in action isn't strategic at all. He literally went to Wano to capture Luffy without a plan and was saying it openly(the MC), but you think Oda really is going to write a strategy for an off panel'd ass fight with Weevil?
