Oda said that in Wano he will have to understand that to win sometimes you have to sacrifice something (something like this at least) I hope he stays true to his words since imo he needs another Sabaody. His worst loss post time skip was vs Kaido which resulted in him getting a teacher who made him stronger with new skills and a plethora of new allies in no time so that actually was no loss but a big gain. What is left was a triumph march (see beating Kata and learning FS mid fight despite being way weaker). So he needs to lose, maybe we will get just when the flashback ends.

He will understand sacrifice not in Wano but after he takes out Kaido. This is more in line with the WG and Imu taking Boa, Vivi & Sabo hostage.

Luffy still has good character panels sometimes which i think are overlooked by fans. Bt i guess Oda has started streching his fights to no limits. Excess of anything is bad, and so it feels for Luffy.

Pre ts, i could say that Luffy was one of my favourite characters if not absolute favorite. Bt it doesn't feel so anymore, i am not even sure to count him in my Top5 presently.

Pre ts Luffy character was more fleshed out, post ts Oda has the central story revolving more arround em getting stronger and beating the Yonkou/Admirals.

Anyway some real dead, not secondary characters, could give OP some drama and heavy feelings again just like at the end of Marineford. I don't say Luffy of course and maybe not even one of the SH, that would be huge, maybe even more than Ace somewhat, but let's say Law or maybe even Kinemon could be a good reminder that yonkos are actually no joke (unlike what we have seen until now).

Except this time it's the final battle with his allies from wano. Do you think orochi is going to let the scabbards live if they lose? Do you think luffy will let that happen. He's bound to win in onigashima otherwise it's death as I said.

Luffy isn't winning anything, not until Jinbe and Nekomamushi reach Wano. So if Onigashima happens before they reach Wano, then Luffy will lose.

East Blue saga / Alabasta Saga Luffy ( and strawhats in general ) were far more likable than now ( OP was in its prime during these days ). i read the digitally colored first 3 arcs again and the interactions were just more lively than after the time skip.

I've never seen an enemy respect luffy at the beginning of their fight, they always say he's weak af yet they all lose.
I've never seen people being upset when zoro wanted to fight fujitora yet they were when luffy wanted to, even though luffy >> zoro. Never seen anybody being upset at Roger being cocky, at doflamingo being the arrogant human being he is.
You guys needs to stop lying, when luffy sees someone strong he says it, he called the dukes strong, he called cracker strong, he respected kata.

Just because he wants to defeat them doesn't mean he's in the wrong.
Is he supposed to show some respect for scumbag like Holdem, big mom who wanted to kill his crew member, for kaido who's messing with his friends country?

If he had any respect for the Yonkos he wouldn't carelessly fight them and get destroyed instantly. There are many enemies that respect each other for example Sengoku respects Whitebeard even though the latter is a pirate.

Why would he respect them? He respects shanks. But kaido is destroying his friends country, big mom forced a member of his crew to come to wci and planned to kill him and his family, blackbeard is the reason why Ace died.
He knows they are strong but he has to fight them so he just does. What's the problem with that?

He is going to take down kaido so it doesn't matter if he got rekt two weeks before that, in the end he'll be the winner. He said the same thing to big mom and he was right. He's the MC, what do you think is going to happen to him and to the other yonko?

Actually he's the one of the only character than can afford to be cocky.
