Different cultures, different ways of storytelling
Thanks for enlightening me I didn't know that.

Look I know it's different cultures but it's not an excuse in the end. Simply put it that manga is really popular outside of Japan and comic books have been in decline for years. Japan's rules don't apply overseas. Like the nose bleed every guy has in every manga in existence is boring and repetitive and only Japanese find it funny for some reason.

That's cause Spiderman is easier to market for kids, and has a higher chance of success with kids. It's not like they didn't make infinite batman or superman films, they just couldn't find the same success as Spider Man. Heck even other MCU heroes made by the same people don't quite live up to Spiderman.

Comics in general don't have much of a lineup of teens, majority of the prominent kid heroes are underlings to the cool boss adults. Peter Parker is the rare case who dominates his own verse, and kids flock to him.
I digress, a lot of comic book heroes whether they were marketed for kids or not (Batman 1989, Iron Man, Blade, Hulk, etc.) touched a wide audience, especially kids. I watched them when I was young and many people did, I didn't even know Spiderman was 16 years old If I'm not mistaken (comic book accurate) till later in life, even though the first film took place in high school, but I guess it's how Raimi directed the film I never noticed it when I was young. But out of all Marvel heroes, Spiderman is the most popular, it's not his age, but his name, costume, your friendly neighbor hood web swinging shooter that touches everyone. It's the new recent Spiderman films are the strictly marketed for kids, Raimi's films weren't. The old 2000's films are mature in content and that's what I loved about them. Today's audience is too sensitive and I understand the restrictions Spiderman (and every other superhero film) has to undergo in order to appease the audience.

Well, it’s good that he's the oldest among the most popular shonen characters.

Still, I don't understand the Japanese mindset why should every shonen MC character should be around the age between 14-16, thinks like a grown up and has the powers of a god. Magically defeats an opponent who's 50 years in age difference. It's bullshit, I don't find it interesting nor appealing, at least the age between 20-24 is acceptable for a MC.
toriko was 25 when the story started and 29 when he defeated acacia
