Chapter Discussion I don’t understand the hate 1079

1. Oda tries way too hard at making Shanks flawless. I've made a post in another thread pointing it out. Oda retconned his fleet to be weak so he's seen as a hero, he's idolized by everyone, he checks on Kid's health before beating him, has FS(and what we can assume is every form of haki). His character reads as an OC from a fanfiction. That is not good writting.
2. It makes previous antagonist look like chumps. BM hit Kid point blank multiple times and each time failed to take him out. Kaido according to Hawkins could not take out Kid and Killer right away either. Knowing there's a guy like shanks around makes the whole raid seem like childs play and devalues it.
3. It destroys what's left of Kid's character in the eyes of the fanbase. Kid sucks, and it's not his fault. Kid sucks because Oda sucked ass at writing him. So after years of being a garbage writer with Kid what does Oda do? Feed him to his self insert.
If Law destroyed BB with one Shock Wille I would think it's horrible writing. Rational people can put aside their fandom to critique Oda.

Agreed. I never cared much for Kidd. Too much of an edgy try hard and somebody whose importance came off as forced. Still, I expected him to at least put up some resistance.
As I have said elsewhere, what happened was honestly a lot more entertaining than an actual fight would have been. Shit came out of left field, nobody was expecting a humiliating curb stomp of that proportion.
Oda should just keep him dead. It would keep the shock value of this moment and let's face it, what the feck is Kidd's character really going to do from here? The man has been an unentertaining jobber for years, might as well put his character down for good.

The problem is not the way kid was defeated per say, but when it happened, specifically the timing is wrong. Something like this should have happened in Dressrosa arc at the bare minimum (mind you that at that time Kid was destroyed by Kaido), preferably even earlier.
If Oda's goal was to hype up Shanks (understandable since before this chapter we never saw him fighting), then a much better solution would be to show Shanks' flashback of him fighting Kaido, even scaring him, which would be much bigger hype for the fans than seeing a bum like Kid getting low diff.
The only reason I can use as an excuse, is if Oda intends to make Kid an ally to Blackbeard against Shanks, maybe even Kid joins Blackbeard's fleet or something.

its epic and you're just coping because the character you thought was an edgy cool guy seinen hero rival was actually a fucking loser 
i hate Kid and i even thought the man would get to fight a LITTLE. take out Rockstar or some shit lol. I couldn't be happier at this chapter, it's like a gift. What a useless waste of space that got exactly what he deserved

I am well known for being very critical of the rival duo—especially Kid. And I love Shanks beyond any other character although I am not delusional enough to think he's the strongest guy around. Even I find this chapter utterly disappointing. I didn't even feel any hype for Shanks. Instead, this chapter made Kid and Killer look like complete fodder and the fact that Kid and Killer just came out of Wano makes this chapter even more ridiculous.
Ryuma descendent shit is in line with the plot and themes though
And Ryuma stuff was foreshadowed since TB
They look the same, plus inherited will, Zoro had Shusui, sliced the dragon, etc etc
This is the same thing as Joyboy~Luffy
If you want a thought-provoking character, power-scale aside, important to the plot and endgame, just keep following Law bro
