Character Discussion I feel like Usopp was demoted as firstmate for "other" reasons.

I know it's not what you want to hear but around the start of One Piece Black characters were around their highlight. With african Americans completely dominating culture around the world in the 80s and 90's. Black characters were seen as special duel protagonist and rivals to the main character and worked as a tool to broaden the range of the audience. 1997bwas about the end of that era aswell. With audiences hating uub the minute his little brown face appeared on screen.

One of Oda's editor probably said hey get rid of this Usopp fella in order to make way for a more Japanese based character. Besides don't pirates like to fight with swords. I'm sure hearing that as a possible reason for your lord and savior to have risen in the ranks is infuriating but I'm just pointing out the obvious. I mean for all the people in the universe for Goku to choose to become his replacement he chose uub. Which would instantly make that character a fan favorite ontop of literally being the reincarnation of buu. But we know why people hate uub. We know why people hate shirahoshi and vivi and Rebecca and Bonney.

Anyways yep.

Also...duh. Like it or not, white/lightskinned characters are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more marketable and appeal to the main public of mangas who also happen to be the target ones.

As for usopp, i´m pretty sure most black/brown people wouldn´t like to be represented by such a trash weak coward character as usopp, at least blackbeard exists.

My favorite black characters from anime are dutch from black lagoon and tousen from bleach, anyone else is irrelevant as far as i know.

Also, african americans never dominated culture, they played a role but were never the main show.

Your saying duh like 95 percent of the people aren't going to come in here and deny/refute every little bit of what I said.

Lmfao dude in Naruto KIshimoto created a whole black village in Cloud village. I don't think that is the reason why they didn't like Uub. A better argument to be made is that DBZ portrayed black characters as stereotypes.
So it's a coincidence that literally everybody from naruto had children or a protégé just like them except the men of the Kumo village?
