What if Zoro just lost an eye during training. Full stop. No power ups. No hidden features. Just a swordsmen with one eye.

Does it mean less if it’s just for character design?

I’m of the opinion that it is just fine and part of the story.

It always feels like people want and need more as for as reasoning or purpose.

Nothing wrong with that. In my opinion it adds depth. Shows getting world class tutelage came with a risk.

Oda said he wanted to introduce a pirate with an eyepatch towards the end of the story. Pretty sure that character is going to be Zoro.

I thought he’d open his eye when using Asura for the first time since the TS but seeing as he didn’t I truly think he’s just blind in 1 eye.

Funny thing is in an interview Oda didn’t want to discuss the reason why.

Yeah I don't think it's some crazy eye/CoO ability, it's purely an aesthetic choice. Iirc Oda wanted to make Zoro a one eyed character for while

What do you mean what if? That's the most likely scenario. Zoro eye theories are delusional.

There is an ability hidden behind that eye.
In the end, he will lose that eye for real.
And then the eyepatch will come in.

I'd be ok with that. It even be better if oda made the scar make sense by using it as a way for zoro to train his CoO. But him just blatantly having no power seems much more likely now since he didn't use any eye power when not only his life but luffy's and everyone else's life was in danger and he didn't try a eye move to try and win.

Part of me thinks he might of challenged or spared with Mihawk during the timeskip and lost it then. Which will get brought up once they see each other.

But that might hurt the narrative on the rematch so idk...

I don't think anyone genuinely believes he's got eye powers or there's some deep lore behind the wound.

And there's nothing wrong with it.
