Its about the principle, you trust them to make their own decisions. Just as you wouldnt want them to make decisions for you they dont want you to make decisions for them.
And SHPs knew that Ace was in trouble since his VC was burning.

I know but he could've worded it better and not use ace example but zoro view was right not denying that

Ace got himself captured chasing a pirate. Vivi is not doing that, she is visiting Reverie as princess of Alabasta. Idk what other examples could have been given where SHPs have let their friends deal things on their own.

Zoro and Luffy are best of friends. I don't think it's funny or offensive since Zoro obviously meant it with good intentions. He's just a friend asking his friend to pattern up and stick true to his ideals instead of making the crew stray away from their goal by doing something redundant. Also, like @Blazing Lion said, I don't think there are any other valid examples. Even if there were, Ace is the closest to Luffy so it hits the point home the best
