It really makes no sense to me to have a zoan focused arc and for Oda to not even address zoan awakening. At the moment, kaido is in his strongest form yet, his homicidal drunk form. But imo this isn't enough.
So until Luffy recovers, Kaido is going to be stalled by everyone else in onigashima. The only problem is, a lot of these people have shown the potential to damage kaido.
The difference, however, is that with awakening, kaido will be able to survive. Doing this would ultimately show that yes, kaido is truly the WSC and in a league of his own, even when compared to other emperors. It would also highlight that the alliance is strong, but that even still they cannot win without Luffy. Then when Luffy finally comes back, we could get awakened kaido vs awakened Luffy.
Obviously joyboy Luffy is going to be insanely powerful. With Luffy already able to fight drunk kaido via G4, I feel like kaido would need something else so that his final round with Joyboy(Luffy) is interesting.
