Character Discussion I think Kaido not being completely evil is a good thing

#63
I don’t think Doffy is more evil than Kaido. Sugar’s abilities are cruel, but Kaido would likely use them for even worse atrocities.

At least Doffy still let the citizens of Dressrosa live in relative happiness and didn’t starve & poison them.
Kaido did that to Wano for shits and giggles for decades.
Doffy only activated his plot time bomb out of desperation.

Kaido literally said “hmm wouldn’t it be cool if by base was in the capital, thankfully I can easily get more slaves”

Yeah, basically Doffy was more practical in his evil. Most of the citizens he had turned into toys were rebels or enemies or those who found out a little too much about his plans. He wasn't about to just wreck a house and randomly murder if it served no greater purpose, like Kaido was doing for years. Doffy used evil brutality to conquer Dressrosa and then allowed its passive subjects to live peacefully so long as they followed his rule about toys. And his Bird Cage lunacy, while stupid and a terrible plot point, only occurred when his rule over the kingdom started to fall apart because of the Straw Hats' intervention. Doffy was an evil asshole, but his evil motives were believable and served a purpose: to increase his own influence and the status of his crew. Anything that didn't contribute to that was pointless, and random tortureporn wasn't going to accomplish anything.

Meanwhile Kaido planned to drop his entire fucking main base on the only prosperous city and the economic capital of his entire country because naked dancing man shat in his bowl of cheerios that one time a couple of decades ago.

sort of true, but Doffy did actually destroy a bunch of towns and stuff before he became king of Dressrosa.

Wild title.
"Not completely evil" is not even a concept that exists.
Adopting a few people isn't a metric of kindness when you commit genocide, national starvation, drought and enforcing slavery for 20 years.
Would be like saying Hitler isn't completely evil because he was an animal lover.
Title is insane.
If Kaido is not defined as completely evil, then even Hitler and any murderer can also be said to not be completely evil just because they did a few nice things.
Mad logic.

Good and evil are a human made concepts that people use to describe individuals based on their morality. But the thing about Kaido is he's not human in the first place so it doesn't apply to him. Orochi was the main reason why wano is in the state it is right now.

His writing was solid. But "not cmopletely evil" depends on how you define it.

Character who genocides and mass slaughters, but has affection towards few individuals = not completely evil? I guess.

But that type of evil is hard to find in OP, IMU might be the one who comes close to it, but I'm sure even IMU will have some sob story.

Kaido rightly called her out for being naive and retarded.

Yamato started pretending that she was Oden, Kaido's arch nemesis. And then took the side of rebelling samurai, who are his enemies.

Then there is Kaido's viewpoint that humans will fear and don't accept the Oni/ogre species. This stemmed from Kaido's childhood, where he was respected but feared for his power by the humans of his kingdom. And they just handed him over to make him a marine against his wishes when govt asked them to.

Kaido knew the realities of the world, while Yamato who was naive and sheltered, is an idealistic person.
This difference in experience and mindset moulded their overall perspective.
Kaido believed in anarchy, where survival of the fittest is the rule, in which there are no longer rules which are unfair and retarded in Kaido's eyes - rules which put even fodder celestial dragons like Charlos commanding top tiers like admirals.
While Yamato believed in stereotypical good guy actions.

Kaido still showed her CONSIDERABLE leniancy.
We know she challenged Kaido countless times. Yet, not one scar or permanent injury to show for it. Kaido just beats her up and leaves, nothing more.

Even Yamato vs Kaido in rooftop seemed like a lecture from Kaido to mend her ways. Dude wasn't going all out, but it was still too much for Yamato to think he was trying to kill her lmao.
The side Wamato was on won
