True, but supposing Ryo has a BB (if not there Is no point), old swordsman with cursed Saijo vs new genius swordsman that forged a BB makes even more sense to me.

Gandhi and Fuji might share a common origin, but in that case Ryo and Gandhi might share a direct connection about what they are. Sure, Fuji Is a swordsman too, but It would be less direct.

Oda is just doing with Akainu what he does with overpowered characters in certain situations; he puts them in a place faaaar from the action so that it becomes plausible to get ''tension'' when said action overwhelms the ones dealing with it.
If Akainu was in place of Kizaru for example it would have been either impossible to leave Egghead or Akainu becomes a meme; he is simply too lethal and even nerfed can cause very serious damage to anyone.

Lets say Shikamaru does (I’m not convinced).

Kurouma (black horse) is the only character in the entire series except Admiral candidates Momousagi and Chaton to have a color animal alias. He is literally 1 of 3 admiral candidates. Nothing average about him. Might not be exceptional in strength (like Shikamaru) but he is surely no slouch.

He is not an admiral candidate, he only has a Zodiac name. The admiral candidates were Brown Pig and Pink Rabbit. It's likely that Loda stopped caring for the Marines as a whole and is throwing around the Zodiac epithets to wrap up the name scheme.
