Oda did it multiple times but People refuse to believe it just because WG have Superiority Complex, as if Pirates aren't Bad as well
It's not the Rulers who are Evil and it's not the Rebels

The Moment Doflamingo said that Nefertari Family were among Founders of WG, People should have realized that They aren't the Evil Faction, cuz it means that Nefertari Family chose to Ally with other 19 to Face a Greater Evil
And someone might say, well maybe They did & then Regretted it, right?
If that was the Case, Nefertari Family wouldn't Create WG after the War was over, History wouldn't say that there are 20 Founders.
This shows that Nefertari Family never considered WG to be Evil or The Alliance to be Evil
Their only Issue was with The Land of Mary Geoise (Which Existed before WG)
Also if a War lasted for 100 Years, while the Continents were Sinking, that means the War happened on Red Line
It clearly turned Red from all the Bloodshed that lasted a Century
And this War over Land was already shown in Skypiea Arc, where Shandians & Skypieans Fought for so long
And neither of them can be considered Good or Bad, cuz Shandians were Fighting for their Land, but Skypieans also cannot let such Kingdom exist in the middle of their Turf, it's like They both had the Right to Rule that Place
So Joy Boy Side is like Shandians & WG Side is like Skypieans
The True Villains of One Piece are their Equivalent of Birkans, an Outsider
If WG's Symbol is Western Dragon & their Greatest Enemy picked Eastern Dragon as his Symbol
Then Main Evil of One Piece are those who represent Third Type of Dragons

The war in the Void Century will not quite be black and white (although Joy Boy will be portrayed as generally good and the World Gov as generally bad).
But Imu and the Gorosei will no doubt have themselves contributed massively to the first drowning of the world (or Great Cleansing, to use Nasujuro’s phrase).
What seems most likely is that they lost the ability to power Uranus (Mother Flame) until a genius like Vegapunk could recreate it. They have no problem with the Ancient Weapons being used, as long as it is them doing it. They don‘t want the AW used against them, so that’s part of the reason why the Void Century research was banned.
So they aren’t banning research out of a desire to protect the world, it’s self interest.

The WG are the bad guys. It may have started as a clash of ideals, with Joyboy perhaps having the moral high ground (freedom, independence) but trying to achieve it with too much brute force, but the WG as it is now and as it was formed, is evil.
People who assume themselves to be gods, using slaves for amusement and torture, including the higher ups (God's knights) doing hunting competitions where they hunt down and slaughter slaves, with the Gorosei themselves (e.g. Saturn) labelling specific races as born to be slaves and having no right to exist outside of it, annihilating entire countries to either hide information or simply to make a point, etc. There is a reason Dragon left the marines and founded the Revo army, because he understood how rotten the WG truly is.

The og 20 kingdoms weren't pure evil. Nor was the Ancient Kingdom. It was a clash of ideals as VP said.
Though it sounds like an interesting premise, I doubt Oda will be subtle with it when we actually get to the reasons behind the war. Imo he'll present one side as morally superior but the dialogue will paint them both as morally grey.

What do you mean if it wasn't for them the World would be submerged in water? It's abundantly obvious that the World Government is the ones who buried the old world underwater. Why else would they cover it up? If they would have saved the World back then, they wouldn't have erased 100 years from the history book. They would have glorified the fuck outta that. The reason why they covered the shit up is because they were the ones who caused it. And they are planning on doing it again. Don't forget the "Great Cleansing" they spoke about. This will be the second time they did that shit. The first time they took out the bulk of the World. The next time, there will be almost nothing left.
I doubt that as well. Seems unlikely it took 800 years for someone to figure it out. Especially, when they are actively suppressing the research capable of building something that advanced.
