Speculations Impel Down is meant to explain why the Beast Pirates DO NOT have awakening

I've been seeing a lot of arguments that Oda introduced Zoan awakening in Impel Down to foreshadow and set the groundwork for awakening in Wano, be it some sort of twist or something else.

I have a different view of this.

I think Oda set up an explanation for why high-level Zoan users don't use awakening - using awakening makes Zoans go berserk.

chopper has awakening and doesnt go berserk. the high level ones or ones who understand how zoans work on a deep level will be able to control it.

Jack will probably go berserk and be a jobber again, and hurt his own crew, but king and queen and zoro will be able to control it

Hybrid is their awakening, their most balanced form. While they hold their animal features, they look like humanoids.

Probably because it's just a Kaido only thing (and probably Blackbeard/Ryokugyuu if they have Zoans). I guess we'll find out in a few chapters.

I've been saying this for a long time, the guards were tortured until they lost theirs minds and become brainless beasts, no reason to think theres other kind of Zoan awakening besides this one where the user become a permanent Beast.


People created this headcanon that the Beast Pirates would get up again and use awakening based on Youtuber theories and now cant stop to talk bullshit about something never showed in the manga.

the reason is that chopper figured out how to turn it off and also how to control it. originally monster point was "the devil fruit running wild" and could only turn off when chopper fell into water or rampaged around for several days. eventually he could control it with a timer and finally he could control it for real and get awakening benefits without losing his mind.

its insane to think chopper is the only one who can do that, especially since we've seen king and the other beast pirates fighting with weird Chopper-style form emphasizing hybrids like when king made his wings extra huge to do flying slashes like a "wing point".

like this is clearly not his human form, or his hybrid form, or his full zoan form. its Wing Point. the standard understanding of zoans needs to be rethought, because its turning out Chopper isn't unique in having multiple different forms or a "monster" mode.
