Leave aside the power scaling, until now most of the anticipated big shots like Kaido & BM were portrayed very poorly storywise. Their motives was literally nothing serious at all and were just a stepping stone for Luffy to overcome them to prove he's strong and thats it basically.
As of now we still have Shanks,BB,Dragon and Im/Gorosei to play out as the big shots that would have some more significant role than just raw power. What are the odds that their motive all along is just nothing serious and all this setup waiting for decades for these characters to play some important role wont do justice.
