Most debates about the final villain of One Piece are between Imu and Teach. There are some people who think it’s a yet to be introduced character, there are some people who thinks it Akainu, etc.

That being said the vast majority of the community is onboard with the idea that it’s either straightforwardly Imu as he seems to be a Kaguya-esque villain or there will be a subversion and Teach will take the role of final villain.

Fortunately, there seems to be a way to decipher which one of these outcomes is more likely:

Is Imu using a devil fruit power?

Why this matters - we have yet to be officially introduced to a fruit with title of “strongest zoan.” Interestingly enough there were people who thought it would be Kaido’s fruit before Wano but with all the mythical zoans we have seen during and post Wano it makes sense that his fruit wouldn’t be the definitive title holder. Teach already has the strongest paramecia and the strongest logia. To complete the trifecta, Teach will get the strongest zoan before EOS.

If the answer to the question is yes and Imu‘s abilities come from a devil fruit, then it’s very likely Imu has the strongest zoan meaning he’s an inevitable Teach victim.

If the answer to the question is no and Imu himself is a straight up devil, then it’s very likely he’s a true Kaguya-type final boss.
