I think Imu-sama and Sterry have a lot in common:
Both are megalomaniacs, they want control the world (Sterry wanted sit on the throne)
Both fell in love for Vivi (notice how Sterry reacted when he saw vivi poster in this chapter, it cant be a coincidence)
Both conspired to become king. Sterry kills the king of Goa. Imu somehow fools the others 18 kings.
Both have a special hate against fishman. Sterry fears the fishman, so I'm assuming Imu in the past also had fear of the fishmans
Both are asshole

I think Sterry is just a pervert. He would look at any hot princesses and would do the same.

I think both are in many ways similar, as you said:

Both are greedy and cling to the position they have. Also, both sacrafice others for their goals and do whatever it costs to accomplish it. That makes them so dangerous.

Though, I attribute more intelligence to Imu than to Sterry. He is cunning (seen when he aims at Lulusia with "Mother flame". I bet he had his suspicions as to where Sabo would hitch a ride to.) and probably knows how to play his cards well. Sterry seems rather plump in that regard.

Imu is intelligent, he is not dumb as sterry. But I think their personalities matches
