Imu's Devil fruit is the Mythical Zoan type Demon King: Satan.
1. The Dream that Became a Fruit
This Devil fruit was created from the hopes of people who sought revenge against evildoers. Luffy's Mythical Zoan type Sun God Nika was created in a similar way, with people who were enslaved wishing for freedom, but they have two distinct concepts. Nika as a concept frees enslaved people and puts smiles on their faces, but Satan as a concept enforces punishment and spreads terror.
2. Brook's Journey in Namakura Island
The reason I find this important is because it illustrates the events surrounding the previous subject of a dream involving revenge. In other words, these people are practicing the very beliefs that brought Imu's fruit into existence. Interestingly, it is the people themselves who created the idea of offering souls to be used as the basis for the covenant marks Imu uses.
2.a. The Covenant Marks
What is a covenant anyway? A covenant is a formal, solemn, and binding agreement, promise, or contract between two or more parties, often requiring specific actions or restrictions. In other words, it is a "Devil's pact" or "Devil's contract". It's just fancier terminology.
2.b Black Magic and Black Flames
What's also interesting to note is that the individuals in this scene are performing a black magic ritual. Black magic constitutes a primordial and corrupted force, and when combined with the concept of black flames it can create unique dynamics such as ignoring the natural logic of fire, it may come from the void, hell, or a demon realm rather than the natural world, and it may have dynamic physics.
2.c. Sacrifice and Blood
These guys thought they succeeded in summoning a demon lord, but when Brook appeared he mentioned he had to go back (to where the other Straw Hats were). Mistakenly, they thought he meant he would return to hell, so they offered to prepare a sacrifice or to kill in his name.
