We always thought it was ambition and how big a dream is for one to have CoC. But big or impossible dreams are not the requirement for CoC otherwise every SH deserves one (almost). And then there are supposed values that the character wont break no matter what. It is hard to define what CoC is or what it is based on now anyway cause in each criterion there seems to be some sort of exception.

What inspired Luffy to become the PK? I think even before he met Shanks he wanted to be a pirate. His real dream is different but his goal to surpass Shanks/Roger is inspired by Shanks for sure. His values are based on Shanks and Garp (I think)

What inspired Zoro to become the WSS? I think he just grew up in that environment of samurai village and got this ambition from there. Probably the dojo, his master gave him the values.

What inspired Sanji to search for All Blue? Its probably something he read in a story or his mom told some stories. He got his main values from Zeff (the fighting style and the chivalry/not hitting women thing).

And in the end what is this sense of self for each of them? We know its Luffy to be Luffy and be PK and not be some Nika/JB/Roger. We know its WSS for Zoro. So what is this sense of self to stand above others for Sanji?

So what is this sense of self to stand above others for Sanji?

In chapter 841, Sanji asks his prison guard for a cookbook and tools. This book mentioned the all blue for the first time in Sanjis life.

The all blue is like the one piece to a chef, it has all that the oceans have to offer in one place. And it’s a dream that all sea faring cooks have had in their life according to those of the Orion.

We don’t fully know yet what is holding Sanji back or what sense of self he will use to bring forth his CoC. But if I were to guess the sense of self that’ll do it is his pride of being a chef and determination to find the all blue to become a sea chef without limits who can cook anything he or his customers wishes as all the oceans bounty is available. But he’s limited by the fact that he is too busy trying to be of use to others as he was constantly treated as useless growing up, not realizing the best way for him to be of use to those he cares and is to just be himself.
