It’s quite a shame that as readers we don’t have a clear indicator of what is and what isn’t ACoC. I feel like Oda dropped the ball with this concept.

We haven’t seen a clash of haki where the combatants aren’t touching since Wano is that the only time it’s ACoC? Or does that only happen when to people using ACoC clash?

This concept is a nightmare for people that enjoy power scaling.

Yeah that’s where I’m at with CoC. I just don’t care lmao. Like Gaban, it doesn’t look like CoC to me at all so. Same with Coby’s honesty impact or Kuzans punches

I gotta be honest with you, I just assume it's being used if the fighter using it is serious or at least not holding back.

I can't be arsed to care about the lightning or whatever - if a someone has it, and is fighting at least somewhat seriously or not holding back, they're probably using it.

And if they're playing around or conserving energy they're probably not using it, unless clearly shown or stated otherwise.

This is probably an imperfect system but until I reread past chapters to get a better wavelength of what denotes ACoC or not ,it's the best I'll settle for.

Bit of a reach but I could see that

Feels obvious to me that if you're gonna introduce a completely new ability that there should be some sort of unique indicator for it

But literally every application of haki is so vague you don't know it's being used unless it's explicitly stated. Like to this day we still don't know how many top tiers may or may not have future sight or advanced armament. We'll probably never find out tbh

With ACoC it's arguably even worse. You can never even tell if someone with it is using it since armament also has lightning aftereffects and we don't see the "wind-up" stage of every attack

You just have to guess. It's annoying

I can see it either way. I don’t understand why haki lightning wasn’t as prominent prior to a ACoC. Maybe I just didn’t notice it until after.

I don’t see anything wrong with your approach lol. I’ll confirm if a character was using it or not when we get their Vivre card lol.
