In chapter 1053 we got some BIG NEWS from outside Wano! Which are the new bounties and ofc the 2 new emperors, now i know basically all of you ( me included at first ) thought that Buggy becoming a Yonko was 100% fanservice / meme content



Now if we look carefully and try to see things from a different point of view.....then Buggy becoming Yonko makes a lot of sense, and Shanks might have been the one to cause this



We know what Buggy did to become a warlord....

- He evaded from impel down
- He rounded up impel down prisoners under "his flag"
- He went to Marineford
- He challenged the Navy
- He challenged Witebeard, and Whitebeard himself said that despite Buggy being weak the prisoners that followed him would have been a "little" annoying to deal with ( ofc he could have washed the floor with all of them but it would have still been a nuisance to deal with )
- He had a "" fight "" with Shanks

While for us this was 100% meme content, all of this happened while buggy was being watched by the " world of one piece " so on the paper for them he was QUITE a big shot, e had charisma / power / "powerful subordinates from impel down

After this as a warlod he kept growing by getting territories , even more subordinates, and ofc more influence which are actually the main requisites to become a Yonko.....

Yea yea......It's true, he's weak, he's a coward and ofc we didnit directly " saw " what he did to become a Yonko......

One thing that we can be sure about is that he was able to escape the new weapon of the Navy, which as a reminder wasn't only meant to abolish the Warlords system, but to shift the blanace of power in the favor of the Navy / WG so they could no longer " fear " the 4 emperors

(ofc) the new toys MUST be pretty fucking good
if u want to have guys like Mihawk / Doffy / Hancock etc become your enemies all together.......

AND LET'S NOT FORGET!!!

Buggy is not just a nobody.....he is a former member of the damn Roger pirates and considered like a brother by Red Hair Shanks! ALL OF THIS is public info in the OPverse


Now let that sink in for a moment and think about some other stuff.......


We know that Shanks tried to keep balance in the world all these years, he tried to stop WB from going after Teach, he stopped Kaido from attacking WB which was in a vulnerable position, and went as far as coming himself to Marineford to do some damage control...

Wen Luffy was going after Kaido's head, Shanks went to the Gorosei to talk to them about a certain pirate, ofc the most logical options would be Luffy / Teach / some former Xebec Pirate ? ( The lurking legend ?
).


We know that at least Oden / Yamato / Whoever read Oden's journal / Former Roger pirates ( 99.999999999% Shanks too despite never having been to Laugh Tale ) must know about the uproar " some people " would do in our current time in the story ( which is mainly Joy Boy Luffy ) and we know that Shanks bet his arm on Luffy becoming the next King of the Pirates


So WHAT IF being 1000% sure that Luffy would take Kaido down ( btw i wonder if he persuaded Kaido by telling him about the man who will defeat him which is apparently what Kaido was waiting for ) to Wano and to " help him " not having too much attention on him after that event and keep growing without many troubles, what if he went there and suggested the only pirate with a fleet / a lot of territories / influence ( former member of roger pirates etc etc ) as the new Yonko ? With that pirate being Buggy ofc


Now yea this might sound a little nonsense, but when Teach came to Marineford and Killed WB / Took his DF etc they took a Year to label him as a Yonko, while Buggy / Luffy took just a week, Luffy doesn't have any direct " political influence " / many territories ( unlike Buggy lol ) he's just a " brat "

Ofc maybe Shanks couldn't predict that BM would come to Wano as well and would be taken down, which would make Luffy an obbligated choice for the WG.....

But it's interesting how Buggy was the " 1st/2nd " option in their " best yonko candidates list " instead of one of the other 2 guys that took down Big Mom / The guy that had leggendary fights with Shanks aka the WSS and possibly a lot of other better candidates....


Again if we look at Buggy with the " eyes " of the people in the OP Verse Buggy is quite a big shot and on the paper he has all the qualities to become a Yonko, so after all he might not be there just for the memes....but i think it could be a nice theory Shanks suggesting his name to save Luffy some trouble xD

I think the reason for going to talk with Gorosei had to be a lot more serious than just making Buggy a Yonko :phoenixmarco:

He has to have found out either something terrifying or needed them to deal with something he couldn't.

Yea i tried to shove that in there to make it a little more interesting


But still after a bit of thinking, he becoming Yonko seemed less and less absurd :)

Buggy needs to have an utterly random reason for becoming a Yonko.

Like he was seen "doing" something impressive which was actually done by someone else, and then he got an army of more followers :usoprice:

I'm sure that's also another reason, again the fact that he is now a Yonko means that he's safe and sound and didn't took much ( if any ) damage from the new weapon of the WG lol

I don't think that's the case, its most likely black beard. I think shanks is acting like a gatekeeper for laugh tale so that only the right person reaches it, and that person is luffy. Another big contender is teach. Shanks also has personal rivalry against teach. So shanks warned gorosei about black beard.


And I would like it more if buggy became a yonko on his own without any recommendation. Buggy isn't like that, he never used roger's name to gain fame for himself.

Buggy is a weapons dealer, and now that kaido and doffy are down he has gained monopoly over the market. The wg seems to be purchasing weapons from kaido and orochi for something. With them down buggy is their only choice left so they declared him as yonko.

Declaring buggy as yonko also serves the purpose showing the world that the balance of powers is still there. When in reality after kaido and bm's defeat a void has been created

becoming a Yonko is no meager feat.


his bounty is definitely touching 2 billion if he's a Yonko level threat..unless he's just a puppet for the WG but that seems highly unlikely

Maybe
(1) he wants protect buggy,
(2) he wants to dictate another Yonkou to be on his side so the world see 2 Emperors are friendly,
(3) there are 2 Yonkou which willingly support Luffy, even if he (1 Emperor) is seen to be close to Luffy then the world Will think that there are 2 Emperors that behind Luffy,
(4) to camouflage the 4 Emperors system, there are 4 Emperors while actually only 3, so the world won't worry for something while Shanks still can execute his propaganda.

20y of manga and u guys havent been able to understang that the WG/Gorosei dont chose who become a Emperor, seriously guys from where this headcanon came from?
