Speculations Is It Weird That Western Readers Are Older?

#21
Hi Worstgen,

I just wanted to mention the average reader of One Piece in Japan is 15... is it weird that many of us are over 25 reading it in the West?

I mean, I know it's weird that I read it. But, I was just wondering how you guys feel about it.
I think as long as you always doing your real life activities with high spirit. Thats not a problem.
The problem is if you leave your real life and just stay all night waiting next chapter.

Can't you do your research? The average Japanese reader of One Piece is above 18. Some even above 50(more than 10% of total).

And it is only natural since the series itself has around 25 years old. So if you started with the series at the age of 15 you are now 50.

Most people who read One Piece when they were teens in Japan stopped reading when they got jobs guys...

Or at least that's my understanding from the people I know, but they have a pretty good understanding of what popular culture is like in Japan. So idk.

People who have jobs and stuff like that are reading books that aren't fiction because they prefer not to be known as people that view children's content
Bruh... Manga/Anime in general will NEVER be bigger anywhere outside of the Japan. These guys don't grow out of it with age.

As for your OP, do you know that Japan sells more volumes of One Piece, every release than the rest of the World combined? You think that's 15-18 year Olds?

Lets not even get started on 15-18 year olds being part of the digital age, while Manags are still selling millions of physical copies.
