To be fair, Jinbe never said that they got away safely unharmed... He mentioned that there are injured people...
The least we can think of is that, most of the notable members like Aladdin and Praline are safe... But details will most likely be tackled soon...
Why is it so difficult to accept that fishmen can easily escape in while in water being surrounded by DF users... Even Aladdin mentioned that Jinbe seems to be underestimating them, and then there's this "Rage Mode" by the fishmen (as seen from Arlong)...
Even Pre-TS Straw Hats and allies, and even the former CP9, managed to escape Enies Lobby Buster Call unharmed... Even Higuma managed to escape from the RHP...

I honestly don’t get how Fuji failed so badly. Jack’s DF is less than useless in a sea battle while Fuji has the best fruit in the series for sea battles
Because people are ANALYZING the scene in a wrong angle
You see... they say "what's the point of having Jinbe's intense moment with SHs and going back and leaving and delaying his joining... if everything will be okay"
However.... we are analyzing it from a different perspective... we are looking at it that ... IF Jinbe left with SH crew in that moment... his crew would have DIED by Big Mom Pirates... so he stayed behind for the purpose of saving them...having Jinbe on your side makes a HUUUUUGE difference if you can survive or not... ask Luffy himself that during Marineford..... What is the point of Jinbe staying and delaying his joining to Strawhats and the whole "I will not leave them to their death" if he stayed behind only for his nakama to save his ass and sacrifice themselves for him...He should have joined the SH back then in that moment... and had his tearful farewell knowing in his heart that they DIED... so that he can live his dream with SHs... That would have had MOOOORE IMPACT... and it would feel like a One Piece farewell moment we are used to in a grandiose way
However... he stayed behind... why? because the goal and the plot point is NOT LEAVING THEM TO DEATH.... so that was the purpose of him staying behind... the purpose is not him staying so that he comes back alone and his crew are dead...
