People or better words Kaido hater trying to downplay him because him being hurt and damage by the likes of Scabbard, the Supernova etc. which are just bullshit reasonings.
No reason into downplay him :
Ever since Scabbard vs Kaido is about to happen, good story readers or in the sense veterans one piece fans can already foresee that Oda is first trying to give the Scabbard their moments instead of just straight out getting beaten up, and in the same time those people who continuously looking for a good moment to downlplay Kaido, will be eating good, until they go hiding after the conclusion of the fights lol.
Power and strength:
Oda build him as a Raid Boss. He is not a human, he is superior to human, with top tier physical stats, and can also use advance haki which can make normal human like Shanks very powerful, yes he can also used the haki, imagine an already monster beast who was already extremely strong without haki....... could uses a power that make human strong, just imagine. His DF is also top notch, Oda might even confirm it as the strongest Zoan among the Zoan class in some SBS later like he confirm Gura Gura no mi.
Yes i also believe like many ppl do that he is currently the strongest character "alive" in the verse. Kaido is the opponent that will make Luffy a true top tier at the end of Wano, not only Luffy, Zoro and others will also gain tremendous growth from fighting Kaido such that for instance Zoro will be strong enough for a WSS title contender after Wano.
Yes beating the strongest character is the only way to give you that much growth in power such that you don't need another timeskip or some 3 or more long arcs to reach your goal when Oda himself said the story is already approaching to it's final stage, we can't have more than 3 arcs anymore. The stronger you're enemies the stronger you'll get after beating. As such Kaido is the perfect role to give the Strawhat a new lvl of strength.
