Questions & Mysteries Is Kaido really suicidal?

#10
Kaido just wants to go out in a blaze of glory. I wouldn't say he's suicidal, but does seem to share Doflamingo's chaotic methods. Basically if Kaido can't find satisfaction in life, the he's just going to pull everything down with a massive war.

Not a suicide attempt. Apoo was a plant. That was planned.
What was the plan?! I don't see why Kaido would need a plan for someone like Kid and Hawkins.

His entrance, before recruiting the Supernova. Considering how he wasn't phased by it at all, I doubt he really thought it'd kill him.
Okay. Since you guys are discarding his cloud-jumping as a notion that he wants to die, that just proves my point that Kaido isn't suicidal.

Or, if you think he is Suicidal, then what else makes you think he wants to die?

Suicides said to be his hobby. Consider it more morbid curiosity than anything else. He's on a sky island, looks down and thinks "eh, might as well go for it."

His dream, though, is to get an army of Zoan users and have the greatest war the world has ever seen. That's why he envies Whitebeard in his first appearance, because he thinks that was a damn good way to go.

The alliance with BM is another step towards Giganto-War and his dream being fulfilled.

Impossible to say how his son will fit into it given that we know nothing about him.

Okay. But then, is Kaido suicidal because he wants to die or is he suicidal because he thinks he can't die?

The second option means that he is not suicidal at all, he is just an adrenaline junkie.
Bit of both I'd imagine.

He wants to die, ordinary methods aren't enough to do it, so he's going for ones that will at least provide excitement for him should he fail.

Would just be boring and depressing for him to sit around trying to tan his wrists in all day and failing.

To go into wild speculation I'll say that Rocks probably went out in spectacular style and Kaido wants to emulate him. Whether you count that as just being an adrenaline junkie instead of actually suicidal is up to you. He's not a samurai, but I think the ideal of a "good death" is what's pushing Kaido. He wouldn't want to go out dying in his sleep, or of an illness.

Let's see:
  1. Leads an criminal organization
  2. Teams up with ex teammate to take over the world
  3. Has a son whom he wants to see at parties
Doesn't look suicidal to me.
Hes going for a war against the world because its the highest chance of him dying a viking death. I think that before Oden, Kaido had a viking sense of honor( ie only respect the strong) but lacked their drive to want to die gloriously or alteast had it to a lesser degree. But after witnessing oden's death, i think he grew to admire it and even glorified death. Thats when he started going around challenging yonko and marines, because he wanted that. Kaido has honor, a lot of it in fact. But its not samurai honor, its viking. Its why he had no problem trying to kill momo and others he viewed weak. Even oden, at first kaido viewed him as weak minded and a fool. But after the boiling he grew to respect him immensely. Both were wary of each other anyways, but kaido less so as he seemingly was stopping an enraged oden from gutting orochi in the castle for a good while up until oden was forced to accept the deal of him dancing until kaido and orochi leave.

He was too arrogant in believing that since he handled him just fine in his human form that he would be fine in dragon form too, fatal mistake. As it allowed Oden to injure him greatly.

I mean there is a reason Oden wrote what he wrote to toki and why at first he wanted to kill kaido in his sleep/drunk( the same strategy they're trying to do now btw haha). Thats because he wasnt sure he could take him. Then the man went on to get even stronger and became the yonko we know right now. Big mom hypes him up, Blackbeard hypes him up. Oda hypes him up. I fully believe there is a reason Oda made him say what he said( that he is bored of life and wants to create the greatest war this world has ever seen). Its because something is going to happed in the onigashima raid that will trigger a huge war. The same way ace's defeat did in marineford.

So yes, kaido is suicidal. Running an organization to get weapons and troops to wage war and trying to take over the world doesnt detract from his wish at all.
