This whole scenario feels more like an enlightenment event than Joy Boy literally taking over. Luffy will still be Luffy but elevated since he was the only one who finally achieved this state and could become the new Joy Boy after many others failed (probably including Kaido).

Luffy already got his ass beaten multiple times at onigashima, and Oda never announced that kaido won except this one. So Luffy lost. Now it wont be a round 100 or whatever betwern kaido and Luffy, but kaido vs a New character that is joy boy.

The impression is that Luffy awakened at the very least but the emphasis from Zunisha suggests that he is at least a reincarnation of Joy Boy so if this is still Luffy he somehow is about to roll with the powers of Joy Boy at least partially, and will one fully develop them, but the chance he was momentarily possessed is there too:zorothink:
