I’d say he’s pretty mediocre but leaning more into being bad. Him letting Orochi ruin Wano while he twerked naked in the streets for years is very…
:whitepress:
Overall he just seems like a kinda cringe OC that someone self inserted to travel with Roger.
Power levels wise he is great as scarring Kaido for life like that is a legendary feat

His character is basically Loda's self-insert Mary Sue that was literally praised for everything he has done, regardless of the damages he has caused with his actions. This dude leaves his obligations of being the Shogun of Wano, then comes back and sees the absolute horrid state of Wano, yet decides to stupidly believe that Orochi would keep his word and halt his assault on the Wano citizens, dancing for years in the streets while Orochi and Kaido proceeded to build factories and build up their forces in the meantime without checking on them once the entire fucking time.

Yet despite such huge fuck ups, that's not even the biggest problem with this shit stain of a character. The primary downfall of this waste of ink is that not a fucking one of the characters in the story ever had the fucking balls to either drag his name in the mud or to even criticize the nitwit besides Orochi, the goddamn villain.

His only value in the story was that he was the vehicle to witness a part of Roger's journey to the One Piss, which is the sole reason of me going with a 2/10 besides of a 1/10, but otherwise Loden can choke on a goddamn chode.

Edit: But then again I can careless about Roger journey seeing how rather mundane it is and how little there was so I will change my vote to a 1/10 if possible.

Top two swordman with Mihawk, absolute legend, sadly he had to make all those actions, but his sacrifice paid off.

No not really he isn't absolutely terrible but he isn't good either solid 4 or 5

He’s terrible. He is scum like Roger said. Playing it off for laughs doesn’t change that. He was a detriment to the emotional impact of the arc since the conflict was sustained by his stupidity.

Also, the one thing that I can actually give credit for (hour of legend) was just based off a pre-existing story. What a shame

1. He's not let Orochi Rules Wano like that, He was stopped by Kaido and can't defeated him by any chance.
2. He choose the easiest way, Fool Lord Character doesnt change his greatness.
3. He use violence and still get defeated, it's his fate it's the Joyboy's fate.
4. With only 10+ chapters he is even better writen Character than Shanks, Roger, WB, Mihawk and even Ace.

The Chad from Wano.

My problem with Oden is that instead of exploring his character he's more or less used to provide context for Roger's journey and set up for the final saga. I mean the high point of the flashback is the he laughed moment which honestly could happen at any time in the story, like a Rayleigh flashback for example. The entire conflict with Wano is because of the history between the Kurozumi and Kozuki but the conflict is never addressed and the entire storyline ends with a really bad pun.

I believe a lot of the flashback characters (Belle Mere, Corazon, Tom, etc.) are well-liked because they have a lot of agency and we get to understand them as people. Their actions for the most part don't feel forced. Almost all of Oden's character and choices are designed to move the plot along and he feels empty a lot of the time. It's ironic that his character desired freedom but nothing about him is free.

7. he is not too bad.
The main problem with him is insonsistency. He acted in a very erratic and unreasonable fashion.
His journey and actions felt like a huge retcon.
