He’s definitely a trash character. Strength-wise, he’s not top one. He shares his spot with Whitebeard, and Garp. Rocks is above him. Oda also confirmed that Kaido and Big Mom were on that level as well. Peak-for-peak, fight won’t go anywhere below high-diff. So yeah, he has nothing going for him, he‘s just the Christopher Columbus in One Piece. Good exploring feats, not really above his peers in combat.

By his powerlevel no, he's top 5 of all characters we've seen so far.

But his personality sometimes was disppointing in Oden's flashback but that was due to Oden's presence.

In the current flashback, he's alright.

The only people getting disappointed are the ones that built up these characters as infallible gods in their heads. Reality never works that way, neither does Oda’s writing. If you haven’t realized that by now, then you haven’t been paying attention while reading this manga

I am disappointed. Roger was portrayed as a larger than life character. Someone almost mythical.

The Roger we have seen so far isn't that charismatic nor that likable at all. Contrast him to Xebec and you'd see the difference in character writing.

And yeah being above current top tiers isn’t really a big thing for ancient gen characters

Was Rox’ haki stated to be strange like the gorosei? Dory and Brogy have also been DRed but no mention of their haki being changed.

I’m aware Joyboy > Rox, I’m just saying Joyboy will probably be the weakest Ancient Gen.
