Character Discussion Is Shanks the OP character with the most potential?

I feel like Oda can take so many different directions with Shanks as a character, and it's impossible to predict which one he will choose. Evil Shanks, connections with the WG, Blackbeard plot, etc. What are you hoping Oda does with his character?

I think the only one who comes close would be Imu, but I have a hunch he/she will be underwhelming.

I think shank is going to be stronger than kaido I don't use memes and have blocked images because I have only 1.5 GB data limit

Indeed ! He is one of the top tier (except Dragon) who is untouched .
With every new power ups thrown by Oda (from CoA CoC CoO to their Advance version) VOT
Oda can equipped him with as many buff as he wants...
He already got Griffen who can withstand Magma punch without coating CoA
He already have advance CoC ..

Many more are coming...
Don't surprised , if he also posses time fruit

Story-wise, he has potential, the shocking revelation with wg and his plotline with blackbeard, as for him being a villain I don't think so, can't see oda making the character luffy aspire to surpass be evil... now that I've thought about it, he might very well do so but I don't expect oda to write something that complex since nowadays he's busy sucking luffy dicks.

As for his combat strength, he'll remain as a one-armed has been no matter what buff oda decided to give him.

I have no idea what oda plans with shanks...........there are so many ways he can write shanks........will he fight BB/ fight marines /train luffy and so on

He has to be extremely OP to hype BB. Hell I expect BB to win through cheating.

Best would be Teach and Aokiji vs Shanks with Shanks dying while killing Aokiji and putting Teach on his deathbed :endthis:

If my future sight is serving me right, Shanks is about to do something that will overshadow what happens in Wano and that's gonna be ridiculous. Two Emperors falling at the same time is probably the biggest deal in the whole manga, so far. Shanks will probably take out Blackbeard Pirates, however, they will survive and return at EoS to face Strawhats. With BMP and BP out of the way, RHP will be the hottest show across the 8 seas.

At some point, he looked to me like this typical "gatekeeper" "peace-loving" character who is not picking sides until it strikes his own morals.

For me, he would fight for his friends but wouldn't necessarily attack the nearby villages to free people who got subdued by WG.

Probably right since Oda doesnt want to ruin a hype of any villain and especially not the one that might be the last but who knows... I also see no other way how Shanks would overshadow SHs with their Wano achievements and post-Wano should be Shanks' era as the greatest pirate in business.
