Dragon hiding? Where did u read that? There was no info that hes hiding from a fight... If hes not there, there is a reason and we will see what reasons he got.
Plot armored son? Ohh i know a manga writer cant make the main character strong. Every main character who is strong got plot armored. Others not cause they were training? Many other characters did too, but are not so strong. Do you know why? Cause plot armor for main characters!

- Leeched Roger in God Valley like Smoker was in Alabasta incident. If you remember it, both Garp and Smoker are annoyed when someone talked about God Valley / Alabasta. And why is that? Because deep down both know they were leeching but wrongly rewarded to save Government's face. They are embarassed!
- Not included by Kaido (the living witness of God Valley incident) in Great 5 List.
- Post God Valley (38 years ago) Garp still needed training to beat Chinjao (30 years ago). Can you imagine someone who is supposed to take down Rocks, the former leader of current Yonkos, still needs training to beat Shitjao???

Supposed "Reverie Destroyer" Dragon never came to Reverie. Only sent subordinates, they failed and captured, then Dragon panicked in his new hideout in Okama Land.
Oh, I forget. Okama Land is his "new" headquarters because the coward lost his old one to Blackbeard without any resistance.
And Luffy the Soyboy is not better than his bloodline.

At the beginning we know that Roger, the man who started the whole era, is a D. Later Kureha and Robin were already talking about the D family in the centenary chapters. We later find out that the government fears them as mortal enemies, in Whitebeard's final speech he points out that a D will change the world.

So Roger took on Xebec, Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, Shiki and a mountain of others all by himself, while Garp just stood back and watched? We literally know nothing about Dragon. But I can tell you what. In real World Military tactics, the leader has to pick and choose their battles. And a General never goes out on recon missions like what the revolutionaries were doing on Mariejois. What kind of fucking idiot would Dragon be, as the leader of the Revolutionaries, to bust into the most heavily guarded summit in the World? Yeah, let's just risk his entire life's work, after being cautious for decades to go to Mariejois where he could get captured in an instant.
The purpose of infiltrating the Reverie was to declare war on the Celestial Dragons. Dragon sent a small team consisting of his right hand man to do that. Get in, declare war and get out. What wasn't foreseen was the Kuma incident, which is most likely what prompted Sabo to deviate from the objective and cause themselves to get caught.

Roger defeated Rocks with his crew, same way Luffy defeated Baroque Works with his crew.
There is a traitor within Rocks, just like there is a traitor within Baroque Works (Robin who secretly saved Luffy after his first defeat).
Then Garp was rewarded wrongly to save Government face, and so was Smoker.
