- Sengoku ended the war when Shanks "persuaded" the warring sides
- Kaidou was stopped by Shanks and it get off-paneled
- Gorosei gave the time to Shanks

So Marines, a Yonkou, and WG gave him the okay. It's like he has some bargaining position.

Possibility 1. Is he WG's henchman? Working for WG? Gaining the respect through Gorosei themselves that placed him as a Yonkou? So he actually is a fake that had no strength himself at all? A snitch? A rat?

This is...interesting, but:

- seeing how Oda want to hype every major character, imo this kind of twist would be like a lame way of subverting expectation. Like a fake build-up about Shanks being one of the strongest people in the OP world, only to find out that he is spandam / usopp / buggy 4.0. And of course the great clash with WB contradicted that.

Possibility 2. He is working with WG for some project. A temporary alliance of some sort. Like Roger and Garp when facing Xebec. Maybe to stop BB from gaining Imu's position. The mutual respect kind of thing. Gorosei said in the pre timeskip that "Shanks is not the type to try to change the world by himself".

Whatever, in this 2 possibility (maybe there're other possibilities but i dont wanna address that) Shanks has his way of bargaining with people.

How about this for the reason:

How about Shanks has Conqueror Haki application that works like Super Hypnotism-llusion-Hallucination? By this ability, he doesn't even need to fight. He guides people's subconscious to do his bidding, to choose other option other than chasing WB, to subtly suggest to Sengoku that the war is useless, to Gorosei about a certain pirate, etc. He made WB, WBP and RHP perceive that he is clashing with WB, split the sky, etc, while the truth is they were all under Shanks' hypnotism/hallucination.

I personally don't like this thought myself, since i kind of want to see the MC's mentor having great combat-oriented hax in battles, teleportation ability, etc.

But tl:dr, how about Shanks practically being Aizen?

I’ve been saying this for a long time, at least the part implying Shanks has advanced CoC and the properties thereof. If the basic form of this power allows you to override weaker wills, the next step must be controlling the same and coercing people into supporting your cause without having to lift a finger. We know he’s physically powerful even without a DF, but there’s no way he could be a Yonko or as highly respected in the world without something like this.

Yeah but maybe it would be interesting to see a Yonkou without as much raw power but instead equipped with manipulation method such as hypnotism/illusion powers, i feel like it would somehow strangely fit Shanks' avoidance toward conflict.

Shanks goal is to keep the peace

he don't want to be the King
he don't want more lands
he don't want more army
he don't want to end any gorp or army


so adding to his personality and his King's like behavior ... people can trust him

If it was number one, Kid's arm will still intact. Shanks Will not challenge Blackbeard or whoever still want to continue the war. Coc is not for someone who is weak, Just think
