General & Others Isnt it funny how Oda could lose interest in the straw hats but never side characters?

Marineford was the beggining when Oda stopped caring about the straw hats and decided to venture outside of their narrative, afterwards he developed a high for a non straw hat form of story telling.

Marineford began like around the 400th chapter of one piece and 600+ chapters later, the story has only ever focused on the straw hats in WCI.

Oda grew tired of the straw hats but never side characters maybe because he always kept the straw hats in the background but tbh, he took a long break from Zoro, Franky, Robin, and Usopp during WCI and when he came back to them he was barely interested in them and instead super attached to the scabbards

Its very strange and very sad

I mean, try literally only doing this for nearly 30 years, of course it happens. Many mangaka go through this and we often see endings shoehorned with a 1000 extra characters. Look at Naruto for example. The only difference is Oda established his world early on and the series benefits from an island/adventure framework that lets him do this.

Do I want to see Usopp and Chopper actually do something again the story? Of course, but I understand why this happens overall, and its not like they are gone forever in doing so.

If I did it for 30 years, at some point id get tired of doing the same.thing over and over again and that exhaustion would be applied to side characters as well, after 600 chapters of not doing anything with the straw hats id start missing them, I dont know how Oda just completely lost all love and care for them

There are no evidences showing that Oda lost interest in the strawhats.

There are no evidences showing that Oda lost interest in the strawhats.
In FMI, many straw hats look like they lost all their personality plus the story no longer was centered on the straw hats ambitions, they were shifted to focusing on Fishman racism and shirahoshis past, punk hazard on Law, Dressroda was about Law, Zou was about the minks, Wano about the scabbards

Contrast this with pre, east blue on Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, paradise on Chopper, Robin, Franky, Nami, Usopp vs Luffy, going merry, Zoro sacrifice, Zoro being vice captain, Sanji being a mentor, Robin growing as a person

The straw hats are no.longer relevant to the story so there is ample evidence to suggest Oda lost interest in them

To be fair there was WCI for Sanji

The story has never been centered around the strawhat's ambitions (at the exceptions of little bits here and there and the journey of Luffy.) and your impression of FMI are... just impression, not the reality of the story where all the strawhats are actually full of personnalities.

And the strawhat, don't worry, are still highly relevant. You seems to be missing a LOT of subtle characterization, probably because like many mangareaders, you felt into the trap of thinking that Oda abandonned the strawhats's characterization. In reality, it's not the case. I could make you books detailing the analysis of each characters post-timeskip, but you would probably not listen to me.

Instead. Check the channel of MelonTee on youtube, especially her analysis of the characters. You will understand a lot. If you need more, ask me questions, I'll gladly answer them.

The main problem is that Oda created too many characters just for the sake of cheap jokes.
It is not a problem and it doesn't impact the story. People took the wrong approach of thinking that the strawhat being the main cast, they should be the one to be developped, but Oda is taking another approach, in fact he did that since day one.

The strawhat are being developped, but what is important is their impact on the world.

This impact, this characterization that is developped through all the rest of the cast are the reasons why One Piece feels so impactfull. It's a story of a legendary crew, a crew that will forever impact history.

Exaggeration? Sanji and Zoro go heavy focus the last 2 arcs before Egghead, and Oda has been giving a decent amount of focus to Robin, Franky and Jinbe right before this flashback in Elbaf. Brook has a connection to Gunko coming. Jinbe had a lot to do in Egghead too along with Zoro and Sanji.

I get the complaint, but its a complete lie to act like he doesnt actually utilize them.

Imo the only characters Oda hasnt done genuinely anything with is Usopp and Chopper since mostly the FMI (except Usopp's big sniper moment in DR

I only wish that Oda sidelined Luffy as well, and we completlely went off the script.
Honestly, this would work better than having an island's conflict be in stasis until the SHs land on it, at which point everything is unpaused.
If Shanks has been prepping the perfect scenario for Luffy to finally undo the Void Century, it wouldn't be crazy for us to have a miniarc only following Shanks moving pawns and various pieces around the globe, for then having a payoff once the SHs actually get where they need to be.

He lost interest in KID..in the end he is not talented writer. At some point it just happened that he started creating characters just for joke or one off usage...prbably because he cannot write character well and to keep story interesting thats his strategy..add new characters for new hype.
