Hi
I was having shower thoughts about one piece and one of them is how weird it felt to me the structure of the yonko arc
1st: I guess defining it should come first
- - - The Yonko Saga is basically the whole pos-timeskip so far, until the end of wano.
- - - Fishman island was the start with luffys declaration of war to big mom and ended with kaido's and big mom's defeat.
2nd : The "deuteragonistic arc" being all the things about samurai and Wano.
- - - Kinnemon and momo appear in punk hazard and ask luffy to free them from Kaido
- - - BUT, Law's plan already involving attackin Kaido, although he himself was on a quest of revenge on Doffy, and probably thought on Dying in Dressrosa
The arcs in the saga were: Punk Hazard (Affected Kaidou and BigMom); Dressrosa (Affected Kaido),Zou (Kaido involvement but Bigmom steal the show with Sanji plot)
Whole Cake (BigMom being the center) and Wano (Kaidou focused, BigMom was there)
What i Think it's werid is how both Yonko stories go at the same time, with the closure only happening at the end of Wano for both.
Alabasta saga would be the closest to this since we have drum and little garden between whiskey peak (we learn crococdile shenanigans) and alabasta itself (the confront) but even then it's all tied, and both Little Garden and Drum are way smaller than Dressrosa and WholeCake in lenght
Meanwhile Yonko Saga is long and probably the LONGEST Saga we'll have with 3 massive arcs from Dressrosa to Wano, where Oda tries to juggle between BM and Kaido while also focsuing so much of his time in the Samurai sidequest, with even the likes of Law who was a big ally of luffy for a long time being overshadowed.
It's like if Oda was trying to tell two stories at the same tim, in the sense of none had a conclusion until both end together and it hurt both Linlin, who had a great Whole Cake appearence, but not so interesting in Wano; and Kaido who only appeared in Wano, which focused a lot more on Oden than him.We got stuff aboutkaido, but his backstory pre-rocks wasnt shown a lot and Oda saved Rocks stuff for later.
So in the end we had Two Arcs that were too big and Oda tried to knot them in the end and wasnt satisfying IMO.
Would it have been better if we had a Linlin Saga and then a Kaido Saga? Who Knows. Possibly the execution is what not satisfied us.
I expected a big showdown on the rooftop with the crew vs BM and Kaido. Law and Kid could be there too but instead we got strong people like Jimbei and Franky dealing with Tobi Fodders. Also King and Queen were not at the level of Zoro and Sanji.
meanwhile Apoo,Killer, Drake and Hawkins were doing some side stuff no one really cared a lot
BUT what do you think? How do you feel about the Yonko Saga?
