Even in the most recent arc, Luffy is still open to recruiting people and Oda hasn't given the confirmation that the Straw Hat membership is closed either, in addition to others like Vivi and Yamato who've yet to join back up with the crew after what they said. This doesn't even have anything to do with time either, since as far as I'm concerned, anyone can join up at any time. So long as the writing is done well, and Luffy's friendship prevails, then the time is irrelevant.

Also, worth mentioning automatically relegating someone to the Straw Hat Grand Fleet isn't always the best option either, since people wanting to support Luffy most directly would be farther away from him. It's why Jinbe isn't relegated to the Grand Fleet for example, because then he'd be too far away.

Much as I don't want to be close-minded towards Loki, since anything is possible with Oda as far as I'm concerned, I'm def more willing to believe Vivi and Yamato would have more purpose in reuniting with Luffy as crewmates. I'm not sure what Loki's purpose with Luffy would be, but maybe it will be answered soon enough.

There'll be 10 crew members except Luffy. To fit with Luffys statement from the east blue and Blackbeard having 10 titanic captains.

The grandfleet is kind of a meme tbh. It's been over a decade, and we've had arc after arc where they didn't appear to save the SHP.

In adding to that, I recall there were people saying Jinbe would join the Grand Fleet instead of Luffy. Another example of close-mindedness!

Another super strong 1 like Yamato and loki I doubt join currently. They are to strong and oda loves writing the sh's as under dogs so won't let anyone stronger than like jinbe join till like the last or second to last arc.

But without the troll, if I'm not mistaken, Oda said one of the crew members dies and then Going Merry was removed from the story, so I think at that time Oda counted the ship as a member too

One issue with new crew members is that we lack proper time to really have them adventure with the crew unless the series go on for a while yet. For instance Jinbei, to me at least, still doesn't feel like a SHP.

Regarding the strength issue Robin is the only one who has surpassed Zoro in bounty and PL was ambigious from she stepped on to the ship until Zoro during Skypiea showed he was > Robin. By Water 7 he showed he was >> Robin. Sanji meanwhile was clearly < vs Robin in Skypiea and it took until Jabra before he surpassed her (+ Franky who until then was > Sanji).

Does Oda have the time for a character to be ≈ #2 for an arc and #3 for another arc before being surpassed by both Zoro and Sanji?

With Jinbei (feats, portrayal, bounty) Oda waited and then more or less told us Zoro => Jinbei > Sanji (for now, which irks Sanji and his fans a lot while Zoro and his fans smirk knowing the truth).

Even so, odas not going to add some character to the straw hats at the tail end of the journey. Whether thats Loki, Yamato, or some other sudden character who’s connection to Luffy just started they’re not going to join
