That could very well end up being the case! Again, in my scenario, Blackbeard most likely would not be an apocalyptic threat or on equal grounds with Luffy if they face off one last time at Laugh Tale. The big fight with Imu would almost certainly still be the epic scaled finale fans expect. This would be more of a subdued final 1v1 to wrap up the conflict Luffy and Blackbeard have had with each other in defining what it means to be a pirate and how to pursue their dreams at the finish line.
Realize that both Shanks and Blackbeard are now more closely tied to the world government than we thought. Shanks is all but confirmed to be a celestial dragon and the gorosei knows about it. Blackbeard now wants to be a recognized king and has Garp hostage. Also both these characters are likely to be tied to God Valley (Shanks might have been there as a child and Blackbeard's ties to Rocks).
If you ever read Toriko, i could've probably gave you a glimpse of how creative the endgame could be more than just assigning Im as the big bad.

I can see Oda doing it,after all he did make Luffy the Sun God and BB darkness itself.
But do you personally feel it is better for the final villain to be someone who has reigned the world for over 8 centuries or a guy who just came up ιn the limelight the last 2 years,and would be deemed the new tyranny to the world just now?
The moment Oda makes Imu a fucking child because Joyboy is on the other side and Luffy is Oda's ideal child, consider the above invalid and fucking BB should be the final villain no matter what,although I do prefer his pre-ts design over the current one.

Oda already said that the series will end when they find One Piece and that the ending is still the same as when he started drawing.
The idea that Luffy will read a stone and then get angry at the World Government is simply wrong, and we are seeing it, Egghead will provoke the conflict with the World government not with Blackbeard.

Zolo fighting Mihawk after everything is over, or Emperor underling Mihawk still being around when all Emperors fall, only to protect fake Emperor Buggy makes no sense. Oda needs to get rid of these guys, he can't have Cross Guild at the end of the series.

You also avoided my question (for obvious reasons). Did you think that the Strawhats & co would somehow take down the WG before even finding out what they did in the past?
Why did you think Rayleigh mentioned the Strawhats may come to a different answer if the WG was already taken down before they even got there?
