Yeah, I don't really see an argument against this tbh. Way back in like chapter 5 or whatever, Luffy even made it clear that the king of pirates would need the WSS under him, implying Zoro will have the title when the crew reaches Laughtale, or at least around that time,which generally makes more sense story wise, and with the Warlord system ending, Mihawk isn't affiliated with the government anymore.

Regardless, Shanks is going down before Mihawk anyway.

Unless Shiryu gets some crazy powerups there's no way he's going to be above Mihawk, especially not to the point where he'll push Zoro to an extreme diff lmao.

It could be a Davy Back fight or whatever. I don't really think it matters. My only issue is that even if he is literally the strongest character around in the story at the moment aside from Imu, there isn't really much to do narratively with him

One of the purpouses of the final spread in Egghead was pointed out with vegapunk speech: Who is gonna claim one piece. Where is the one piece? Laughtale. And not everyone in the crew get one single big fight anyways unless its gonna be the final arc so i dont see a problem.

Better than minus IQ suggestions of (not you) "the last fight in one piece will be mihawk vs zoro and everyone will stand around clap and watch it"

Tbh, Oda probably should have switched Mihawk and Shiryu's roles in the story, because the current situation doesn't really work. I won't say retconned, but Oda really had to push some of Mihawks traits to do the whole "Crocodile and Mihawk are actually really similar and get along" meme. And the whole, well Mihawk loves seeking danger, but also he wants Buggy to protect him from VA's thing, as well as him even being a marine hunter kind of doesn't work
