comparing marineford

to a final saga plot point that have "LEGENDS" and "IMU"

Cmon bruh
?

Marineford is one of the most important arcs in the story… it literally led to the timeskip happening lol

It was far and away the greatest and most hyped up event of the pre timeskip. You know, the event that Oda spent hundreds of chapters building up to?

End of Thriller Bark -> Sabaody -> Impel Down -> to finally reaching Marineford after hundreds of chapters of build up

Marineford actually had more buildup than God Valley

And if you’re saying it’s different cause of the amount of legends that showed up then that’s moot too

Whitebeard, Garp, Sengoku, all 3 Admirals, Mihawk, Shanks at the end, Blackbeard

That’s without mentioning the Warlords and strong commanders that were present

All these characters and how many full fights did we get? You wanna count em out?

Again, I’m not saying you can’t complain about the way God Valley was handled. I have my own issues with it after all

But this idea that we were going to get an entire arc (in a flashback) focusing on all these full fights between old gen characters was delusion from the start

Whitebeard and Ace didn’t even get full fights in the arc they died in but God Valley was gonna have 20 full matchups?

It never made sense

new chapter, new haterboi thread

nothing will ever change here

people can't even let it sink and reflect upon it, they have to immediately go chase the fame of negativity

I rly enjoyed this chapter, it's masterfully written with alot of sad and depressing nuances. May Oda be blessed, so he can defy this negative energy from the haters/bullies.

It isn’t really a weakness though in my opinion

The goal of both had nothing to do with defeating everyone. It was straight up save Shakky -> steal treasure -> leave

Just like Marineford was about saving Ace -> leaving with as many people surviving as possible

The goal was never to kill everyone you see

The only thing I would change about God Valley is significantly reducing Shakky’s relevance and giving other less relevant characters more to do

And fix the conclusion (the Rocks Pirates just leaving without questioning Xebec’s transformation is stupid)

Cover up some of the holes by having Gaban meet Sommers after Rayleigh sent him flying so their interaction in Elbaf makes sense

Again, God Valley is far from flawless imo, but I disagree with the “Clash Piece” complaint. There are 2 separate types of conflict

One that requires you to beat everyone in your path (Onigashima, Enies Lobby) and one where you keep the fighting to a minimum (Marineford, God Valley)

This was obviously the latter

Hey, valid, thought-out criticism. Wonders never cease.
