Discussion Power Jiraiya’s performance against Pain is overrated

#21
I like Jiraiya, but him beating 3 Paths of Pain isn’t as good as some people think. He only managed to do so by taking advantage of the environment and ambushing them with a genjutsu, which Nagato wouldn’t expect from Jiraiya since he know Jiraiya was bad at genjutsu. The Deva Path wasn’t among those 3, and let’s be honest, the Deva Path is the strongest Path by a huge margin. I’d argue that the Deva Path by himself is potentially worth just as much as the other 5 combined. Had the Deva Path been there, it would have been a different story

It really would be a feats versus statements argument not any different to sasori vs deidara really
Feat wise jiraya alone was getting no diffed by the asura path
Statement wise we are lead to belilive that he was really strong and could of easily beat pein with proper prep and knowledge

Going by your own logic, Itachi should be > Madara since Zetsu called Itachi invincible.

Pain claps Itachi with his Konoha-crushing Shinra Tensei
I mean yea pein no diffs, Anime leaders are typically always stronger then the people which they lead with monster king orochi being above the monster association as a whole and chrollo being above the phantom troupe as examples. Could keep going really griffith above the band of the hawk, malik being the strongest rare hunter.
The examples are quite numerous so portrayal and precedent would put pein above itachi

Gets shown Pain Manga Canon Statement

There's no such thing as canon, it's just something that fans made up to exclude material which they dislike nothing more and nothing less. The whole anime cant be counted cause it's non canon thing is just a cope as if it had no relation to the manga and it's just isolated fan fiction as the fanbase says then raiga and juzo would not be added to the manga as they were.

Should just be more honest about it and say material that we like agrees with my position not yours saying canon just romanticizes your preferences as more then what they are also it's misinfomative to anyone who wishes to join this fandom of boomers who never changed their mind on anything in literal decades
